I have a hell of a lot of built-and-forget sites and they have been making money consistently for a number of years.
Those sites usually got an initial rush of visitors, before pretty much leveling out at the approximate amount of visitors they have had ever since.
Some of my other sites would die out in a few months if I weren't there to make sure that they are updated regularly.Comment

That all depends. You could have people help you with your site while you're in jail. Write a blog from jail, use that as a gimmick.
If you were in a coma (i guess you'd have to plan this before you went into the coma) you could make a donate thread, spread some rumors about how you're not really in a coma, start some drama, and use it for publicity.

The TGPs would probably die, the rest wouldn't because it's more search engine focussed, 70% I'd say...and since I got a nice insurance for things like this and wouldn't have to spend any money in hospital or jail, I'd earn like 120% in that time.
If you are self employed, you better make sure these risks are covered...you never know when life will hand you over the short end of the stick...Comment
