    Do you have a USB cable modem? Does it slow down your computer?

    This is driving me nuts.. my computer chugs with this damn usb cable modem

    the second i pull out the cord all is well

    any idea what can be wrong? i have the latest cable modem drivers

      have tried connecting anything else to the USB port to see if it works properly?
      if it doesn't then you have to (re)install the USB drivers

      well, I'm not an expert but it's a bump anyway ;)

        I have a USB WIFI card.. slows shit way down.... use an internal card, shit is humming...

                ive never heard of a usb connection for networking personally.. but im guessing that some software does all the work that a normal network card would do... so depending on your computer, i'd assume it would slow it down a lot.

                  USB requires the processor to move data back and forth between the USB bus and the rest of the system. A standard networking card is directly coupled to the PCI bus, thus far less overhead.

                  USB sucks for data comms. I have no clue why any system designer/engineer would even consider it.
