You know that email petition that keeps circulating about how Congress is slashing funding for NPR and PBS? Well, now it's actually true. (Really. Check the footnotes if you don't believe us.)

A House panel has voted to eliminate all public funding for NPR and PBS, starting with "Sesame Street," "Reading Rainbow," and other commercial-free children's shows. If approved, this would be the most severe cut in the history of public broadcasting, threatening to pull the plug on Big Bird, Cookie Monster and Oscar the Grouch.

Except FOX is obviously biased. With the expception of CBS I do not see bias in the other news stations. re[ublican think if you say somthing bad about Bush youa re evil liberl biased person. I remember when the Clinotn sex scandal thing was going on. ALL the news stations were ripping him a new one. Where is the bais?

I know damn well what it means. Just wish they advertised that way. They always come off as if they are fully supported by member donations. Then to play on the fucking public word, if they are member supported, how is it public if you need to be a member?

all reporting is biased. reporters determine whats relevant to report and tend to report things that favor their position. thats why its important to get your information from many sources to understand the whole story, not just the parts that fox news or the bbc want you to know about.

I get most of my news off the AP wire. I'm not sure how baised that is.

I have NEVER seen a fundraising drive on PBS where anyone has said that they are 100% member funded. Besides if the government expects corporations to help fund public TV then it shouldn't shock them that the shows might be baised. If I donated millions to PBS and then they did a show that was negative about me then I'd pull all my funding. Now PBS wouldn't want that now would they?
