I have this book about hereditary genes and alcoholism. Its pretty cool to read.

its called Under the Influence: A Guide to the Myths and Realities of Alcoholism by James Robert Milam, Katherine Ketcham

If you appreciate science, this book will explain so much about this subject. Makes a world of difference to me when I am indulging.

I'm about as whitebread English/Irish as they come, but for the past 12 years I've lived in the heart of the largest French-Canadian community outside of Quebec (St. Boniface, MB) and I can tell you that some of the "frogs" here can drink till the fuggin cows come home. I know several that I'd stack up against the likes of lebrat in any drinking game.

But it's not about who can drink the most. It's about who get's drunk on premium beer (anything Canadian-made) and world-class rye-whisky (Seagram's Crown Royal, Canadian Club etc)...... and who gets drunk on fizzy beer-flavored water and jim beam.

yep it even mentions evolution, and the process of natural selection...

for example: the native american indians were pretty much introduced to alcohol by the white man (correct me if i am wrong), and the stereotype of the drunk indian has to do with the fact that their genetics just don't enable them to process alcohol as well as other races.

But the statisitics change, with different ethnicities, because there is a genetic problem in the mix. I'm drunk, so go ahead and read the book if you are curious by what I managed to type here.

Sly_RJ was the first person to bring logic into this thread. You need to know first off if money was to be paid, and second, who it would be paid to. The fact that BuckNaked asked Amputate to do a design for Hungryman (to get him 'the fuck away from me') is basically a pay-off on BuckNaked's part. As vidvicious said, that would have been taken care of when XXXdesigngroup.com was dissolved. The fact that BuckNaked and Amputate both laughed at the fact that it was an inside joke, and that BuckNaked didn't want anything said because he didn't want to start any trouble with his job showed that they both knew it was a design that was completed by Amputate, and it seems to be a 'favor' from BuckNaked from Amputate, which BuckNaked gave to Hungryman to get him off of his ass.

I know this is chunky, and I'm in the middle of cooking supper.

Amputate, I am not taking sides, I am just trying to figure out the situation for myself. I do feel as though Hungryman is the wrong person to be asking money for. You did the design and kept quiet about doing the design for BuckNaked/Duane/Pensfan as a favor, and that's great, and it was a great design, though I think you're trying to crack the wrong egg. I'm not even sure there is an egg that should be cracked.

BuckNaked, I understand you had problems with Hungryman, and I'm sure I don't know to what extent, though you didn't bring any proof saying that Hungryman owed Amputate, or you, any money for the design. Oh, you also mentioned a whole lot of defaming things with no solid evidence, as evidence (or actually just to defame Hungryman), which was pointless for Amputate's situation.

If there are holes or something you don't find clear, then reply and state speficially what you don't find clear.. maybe I messed up my argument, maybe it is faulty, just don't say something pointless like "You're wrong! *middle finger*"

Here's a thread that relates to work I did for HM almost a year ago now. Like Angel, Amp & Fletch's buddy, it was never paid for by HM, although I am sure Nick from Payserve would have paid him for them.

This is what I cannot understand and is what ultimately pisses me off and stops me from feeling sorry for him; Client comes to Hungryman requiring some design work to be done. HM agrees on a price with the client etc and outsources the work to another designer, agreeing to pay them something like 40/50% of whatever the client agrees to pay him. HM whips the designer's ass to complete the work ASAP. HM settles payment with the client, but no, HM doesn't take 40/50% out of it and send it straight to the designer who did the work, he keeps it for himself and obviously spends it or whatever, then comes back to his designers with the excuse of HAVING NO MONEY!

That is what never made any sense to me. The % required to pay the designer should have been taken straight out of the client's payment for the job in question. Angel and I feel completely scammed by this guy, I'm sure Amp and Fletch's mate feel the same way. I don't want to sound like an asshole, and no offense to DH, I know you're just trying to help the guy, but is what HM did to all of us much better than what we flame russian scammers for on here? And now you are starting threads, donating money and saying how sorry you are that his wife kicked him out? He gets no sympathy from me for the sole fact that he took money that was rightfully his designers' and used it for himself. What's next, the Slava and Footnic charity drive?

I don't really give a shit about the money anymore, I know I'm not going to see squat, the thing I can't stand is being fucked over by people like him and seeing others getting fucked over by people like him as well. Enough is enough, designers are SICK TO DEATH of being whipped, asskicked and forced to work like dogs to complete work and meet insane deadlines only to receive excuse after excuse from the client (or in this case, broker) regarding payment. What's the problem? You expect us to pull allnighters and finish a 6 page site tour + 50 banners working nonstop until finished, but you SOMEHOW find it too difficult to login to your paypal account and click a couple buttons in under a year?

The reason I am so fucking pissed about this now is because when I called him on it. He got all fucking pissed and fucking started talking shit. Rallying his fucking bullshit against me.

In the end I was right.

Even the fucking 'Hungryman Approved' button was done by someone else, I smelled it then, and I SEE it now.

the standard markup for a sales rep (in the real design world) is 30% on top of the base price, at the very most. Usually its 15%.

hungryman has been treading on dangerous ground by trying to profit more than the decent margin, from other's creative works. If I created something, and then someone wanted to double the price I felt is was worth, I would tell them to gf themself.

I can see that this has completely gotten out of control!!! I've known Hungryman for about a year now and he has proven himself to be an honorable guy. I do business with Hungry now and he has always helped me out in the time of need. Even if the portfolio being posted is not the work of the guy selling the service that portfolio is still the representation of the level of quality coming out of that design house. Amp, I don't know you know you nor do you know me but your post was reckless and uncalled for. In fact when Hungry was selling me his service your name was brought up and he has never tried to make me believe that he is the designer doing my work. I have just cut a check to Hungry for work I have not even received yet and I'm not worried about it being finished to my satisfaction!

Hungry...stop reading these posts and send me my final design!!!
