I was a bit shocked after reading all of this - though I did read everything. I haven't been involved in Hungryman's business, though personally he is a really caring nice guy. I know anyone who may have done business from him, might have a biased view of him now, though please don't insulting him as a person.
People get into a certain way of doing things, and if they can continue to them in the same manner without anything bad happening to them (like they can still make a living off of it), then they will continue.
He may not be able to make a living off of it anymore, which means he will have to adjust his practices. There are many design companies who are just agencies, or outsource many designs. I am sure that many people did not know this, and I think this fact that it wasn't clear with him shouldn't be put on him as a fault.
I can understand that people that have done business with him and have not been paid would be aggrevated. I have about $1000+ of people that have not paid me for hosting that I used to offer. Though as a business person, it is very wrong of you to instantly go public, and especially after the time period allowed to pass - 2 years. Instantly bringing this into public view, without the facts, or not giving the opposite side to respond privately first is defaming of character to me.
In the case of Amputate and Duane, if the 2 years has passed since the design was given to Hungry by Duane, then it basically is deemed as his, whether you agree to that or not, any course would agree with me, unless he was told earlier to send payment, or that it was borrowed.
If people hadn't gotten their designs on time - it happens. If you keep buying services from the person, then you should expect them to not be on time, even if they say so. It's common sense that it will be late again.
If people hadn't gotten paid for their designs - it happens. If you keep designing things for the person, then you should expect to not receive payment, even if they say so. It's once again common sense that they most likely will not pay.
I know people base a lot of things on trust, and I still do, and it sucks when things like this happen, it really does. I now am very cautious of anyone I do business with, even the known people, because if anyone they could probably make you look in the wrong if you have no evidence, and it costs more money to take legal action, then people usually loose out on.
Seperate personal from business, and business from personal.
If someone is nice, great. If someone does good business, great.
Cheers,
Matt
P.S. I have to walk my puppy and then go grocery shopping, so I will reply later if need be..
