Ever Go Candle Pin Bowling ???

I'm not a big bowler but my brother in law is ... he's been in some pro tournaments and has like a 230 average and 4 perfect game rings ... (something like that ) .. well in Vermont they are big on Candle Pin Bowling and told him that any one can bowl with a ball and pins that big ...lol so we had to try it .. it was fun ..kinda like bowling with a softball and the pins are thin like a bottle of beer ... I'm not sure what a good score is but i bowled a 62 ...lol but my brother in law bowled like an 80 something and he's a pro ..

anyone into this where they live?

Yeah, growing up in new england, long time ago in a suburban nightmare far far away. Such little balls.

I haven't gone candle pin bowling in years. Duckpin is much better. 220ish average.

Back in high school (many many years ago) we used to recieve the new england sports network on our satellite dish and I used to watch it on TV all the time. I've always wanted to try it but have never had the opportunity.
I'm a decent regular bowler (high 180's average), but would like to try both candlepin and duckpin.

duckpin? where do you live, ct or ri?
i grew up with candlepins in mass - once in a while we'd go "regular bowling" (there were only a couple of places to do it near me) - we called it "going big balls" lol
duckpins are a hoot - the bands around the middle of the pins make them fly around like a pinball machine

nope, candlepins look like - well - candles.
duckpins look sort of like "regular" bowling pins but they're short and squat.
and the balls for duckpins are a little larger and heavier than candlepin balls.
also, with candlepins the dead pins aren't cleared off the alley between balls - with duckpins, there is a "sweeper thing" that comes from the side of the alley to clear the dead wood between balls.
