I'm man enough to make good money from the web without having to annoy people who visit my sites. I doubt a single person has ever regretted visiting a site I own.
The way to rebiuld this industry is to make sites surfer-friendly instead of fucking them over at ever opportunity which is the current status quo for a large amount of webmasters.

exits only pop when they leave :D so it doesnt affect their browsing experience. if someone goes to paysite A and signs up, then he will never see an exit console. if they go to the paysite, go to the join page, and decide not to sign up because maybe they didnt see a girl that convinced them, they close the window - but an exit could keep the sale ;)
i think exits on paysites/freesites/others are a different matter. most paysite tours do not have daily updating content and lots of value for people to come back anyway, im not sure that many surfers bookmark a tour. but a freesite is something people would bookmark, and to get a popup on that would suck.
