You're missing my point. I'm not disputing the profitability of exits. I'm just one of those internet purists who can see that exits are a pain in the ass to the internet users and are therefore bad. A business should be built by giving people a good browsing experience, not by serving them shit they don't want.

I'm man enough to make good money from the web without having to annoy people who visit my sites. I doubt a single person has ever regretted visiting a site I own.

The way to rebiuld this industry is to make sites surfer-friendly instead of fucking them over at ever opportunity which is the current status quo for a large amount of webmasters.
