Get the computer program to learn on, it'll save you a lot of money in the end.

Just use a buddy controler with someone that knows how to fly them. Try a sweet stick for starters. Flys really nice.

He's not kidding. The simulators work like a charm. I specifically recommend Dave Brown's Flight Simulator but I'm not sure if his stuff is still around. It was great in years past though. (around '95)

As for airplanes, I recommend the Great Planes Ultrasport 60 with a .60 Thunder Tiger engine, and one of the higher end JR computer radios. That's basically what's sitting on my shelf right now.

I use to fly RC planes when I was a young buck.

Yeah I have to agree, the Ugly Stick series are supposed to be good for pretty much anyone including beginners. They come apart easily in a crash so you won't fuck it up too bad.

i brought a remote controlled one and fucked it up pretty quickly because i didn't know how to fly it, and was impatient

                  but it was fun good

this was the one i got : http://www.rctoys.com/draganflyer5.php

but it didn't have 'thermal intelligence' like the latest one seems to, hmm i'm tempted to get the new one
