Is this just a clever way to install spyware?

    http://todaysfreevideo.com/movies/hardcore/movie1.php

If so, thats pretty clever. I didn't click the "download codec" link -- anyone know what it does?

And to guys at Webair, since this seems to be hosted from your servers, if it turns out to be something malicious, would you kill it?

What should be the "best practice" regarding pages like this?

Ok, so the user agrees to a bunch of technical bullshit that he doesn't even understand, and the supplier of the toolbar says "See? He agreed to it all right here!"

Very clever, but why don't they just have him sign over the deed to his house and title to his car in there, too?

You know... this reminds me of a time that I had this really, really bad cold, and I kept coughing like:

Cough Cough Cough Char Cough Cough Cough Lo Cough Cough Cough!

Except, with that particular cold, the EULA was less straightforward.

They hadn't thought about it yet?

What if there was a new "watchdog" type program, with an affiliate program paying everyone to distribute it, maybe even offering incentives for surfers to execute it, whose sole purpose was to detect and publicly expose whoever is profiting from malicious installs?

What would it take to build a "watchdog" type program that follows the MONEY? It seems like the only way to kill spyware is to publicly expose the money trail.

                        Opinions?

Looks similar to the gallery spamming redirecting fucktards and their v-codec site. In the case of the v-codec guys what you think are the movies that you would click on to watch, it's a popup to download their "codec".

I personally believe they're email spammers infecting computers so they have a network to spam from.

It's what I call "asterix-ware". You want to download X (like a special codec to see a video) and they asterix in spyware, scumware, and even a patch to make it so that anti-vrius and anti-spyware programs can't easily remove it.

                                  TOTAL FUCKING PIECES OF SHIT.

If anyone wonders why programs are still doing great and affiliates are bitching about sales, well... you don't have to look any further than this shit.
