    My 18 year old dog......

Is at the vet this morning....getting fluids thru i.v. to hopefully flush out some sort of virus or infection, we're not sure which, she just turned ill a week ago.

otherwise she still acts like a puppy at 18....still runs around, rolls around in the yard, does everything like a normal healthy dog.

I've had her since i was 7 years old....& because she's been around so long, shes a huge part of my life, if something happens to her, i'd just lose it....yea i know 18 is like almost impossible for a dog of her size to reach, but i dunno, its hard to prepare to see a good friend & family member go...i hope shes ok

Your dogs had a REALLY long life

I know animals can be just like another family member, so best of luck to you and i'm sure shes had a great life since you obviously care that much about her... best of luckpr0

      pr0,
I hope she is ok too. What kind of dog is she? As you mentioned, no matter what kind of dog, 18 is a long and full life. For that you should be proud.
Just said a prayer for your little angel, hope she comes home to you soon.

I read anything over 10 yrs is a gift with dogs. I hope your dog feels better but you should start to come to terms its not going to live forever.

Your dog has lived almost twice as long as the average dog. According to guinness you dog needs to live another 11 years to set a record.

She's a golden retriever mix....Picked her up as a tiny puppy at the SPCA in 1987

                She's a little smaller than an average retriever...maybe 2/3rds

My dog Sully isn't far behind at 16, and he too is still just like a big puppy running around the yard and wallowing in the grass.

I hope your dog pulls through this quickly pr0, so you can continue enjoying every minute you have left with her :D

she lived long enough, sometimes you need to learn how to let go.
lost my 10 yr. old dog once, it was a painful experience for me.

she have a very long life. just be thankful she'd been loyal to you that long

it's really hard to see someone you care for is just about to leave you and you dint even know when.

wish my dogs would live long too. good luck to your dog.

I lost an 18 year old a couple years ago. As she got older I had said it would be a long time before I would even consider another one but as fate would have it I ended up taking in a couple of little ones that needed emergency placement or were headed to the pound. Turned out to be the best thing overall.

We had a cat for 17years. He was one ugly, mean bastard but damn we loved him. He was like a family member. Missed him for long time.

Of course im keeping her inside 24-7 to keep her out of the heat & all. I'm hoping she makes a full recovery from this illness.

Of course im keeping her inside 24-7 to keep her out of the heat & all. I'm hoping she makes a full recovery from this illness.

my 15 year old dog died in December. it's horrible - i still am not over it, can't stop thinking about her whenever i see the places she hung out, bathroom, backyard, and den. i thought maybe this summer i would start looking for a puppy but I'm not ready at all - feel way too guilty to just replace her like that.

18 is amazing for a dog, hope you get another couple years with her.
