Boy the memories, The NYHC matinee shows there were the best. I remeber the days where youd get mugged right outside the place if you werent with a group of people, boy the Bowery has really changed. Seen some amazing bands in that place, Bad Brains, Cro Mags, Sick of It all, and soo many more.
With a capicity all of 300 they place was awesome to see a show, I will really miss that dive.
RIP CBGB's NYC thanks for all the memories and giving us a place to take out our angst!!!!!!

They still do the HC matinee's, don't they? I was there back in Feb., saw a bunch of shitty local bands but Bad Brains were playing a few days later. Total piss off to miss them.
I've missed far too many shows recently.. both SOIA & Cro Mags played here within the past month. But I am going to see Sworn Enemy at the end of Oct., should be a good show.

Yup, pretty good lineup...I haven't seen SOIA in yrs. becasue they haven't been able to get across the border since like, the early 2000's I think. I can't believe I missed their last show, I really do like the last album. I heard the show was insane, after 20+ yr's, they still put on an intense performance.

The area has changed alot gues they are going to put another freaking gallery there or somehting
The bowery has become a hip area now, i went to a wedding in the bowery 6 months ago that was well over 6 figures. In one of the hottest places to have a wedding in NYC. Who would have known that the shitty Bowery would be a hip spot for Yuppies.

I'll miss the very very tiny bathrooms.
I actually talked to Van Zandt about it at a shoot for The Sopranos. I'm sure he alone could have bought the whole damn building, but oh well.

I've hung out with the AF guys, my friend Willy was good friends with them.

A lot of former shitholes have come a very long way. As little as Rudy was liked pre-9/11 he did a lot of good for the city.
Heard of a van that is loaded with weapons,
packed up and ready to go
Heard of some gravesites, out by the highway,
a place where nobody knows
The sound of gunfire, off in the distance,
I'm getting used to it now
Lived in a brownstore, lived in the ghetto,
I've lived all over this town
This ain't no party, this ain't no disco,
this ain't no fooling around
No time for dancing, or lovey dovey,
I ain't got time for that now
Transmit the message, to the receiver,
hope for an answer some day
I got three passports, a couple of visas,
you don't even know my real name
High on a hillside, the trucks are loading,
everything's ready to roll
I sleep in the daytime, I work in the nightime,
I might not ever get home
This ain't no party, this ain't no disco,
this ain't no fooling around
This ain't no mudd club, or C. B. G. B.,
I ain't got time for that now
Heard about Houston? Heard about Detroit?
Heard about Pittsburgh, P. A.?
You oughta know not to stand by the window
somebody might see you up there
I got some groceries, some peant butter,
to last a couple of days
But I ain't got no speakers, ain't got no
headphones, ain't got no records to play
Why stay in college? Why go to night school?
Gonna be different this time
Can't write a letter, can't send a postcard,
I can't write nothing at all
This ain't no party, this ain't no disco,
this ain't no fooling around
I'd like to kiss you, I'd love you hold you
I ain't got no time for that now
Trouble in transit, got through the roadblock,
we blended with the crowd
We got computer, we're tapping phone lines,
I know that ain't allowed
We dress like students, we dress like housewives,
or in a suit and a tie
I changed my hairstyle, so many times now,
I don't know what I look like!
You make me shiver, I feel so tender,
we make a pretty good team
Don't get exhausted, I'll do some driving,
you ought to get some sleep
Get you instructions, follow directions,
then you should change your address
Maybe tomorrow, maybe the next day,
whatever you think is best
Burned all my notebooks, what good are
notebooks? They won't help me survive
My chest is aching, burns like a furnace,
the burning keeps me alive
Try to stay healthy, physical fitness,
don't want to catch no disease
Try to be careful, don't take no chances,
you better watch what you say

Truly, truly sad. I went through a small punk faze in my youth, and CBGB'S to me was the place that started it all. I have seen many many bands there, and it hurts me a little to know they won't be there anymore. Just one more thing to make feel a little older, dam.
I *really* wanted to go there when I was in New York last year but nobody wanted to go with me and I don't know New York well enough to go roaming on my own. Pah.
Yeah, my music news site has been following the downfall for the last year or so. They almost got shut down a year ago too but were able to get another year. www.wearethescene.com
