Several years ago my (former) business ran an affiliate program for a period of time. Many, headaches involved. My manager at the time asked if we could drop it. I agreed. Took a drop in traffic and sales for a time, but my manager pulled us out of that stage and the business began to have growth again. Different strokes for different folks. I agree that if you don't mind the headaches involved and get the program to operating relatively smoothly the potential for growth is quicker than not having an affiliate program.
