TGP and Link List owners - PLEASE READ

Any chance we can get a blacklist moratorium from now until June 30 or so?

I know alot of webmasters are going to have to delete alot of stuff in order to cover their asses in regards to 2257.
It would be a shame to get blacklisted and lose partner accounts because they're trying to comply with the law.

Our 404 pages are going to be something like this

"Sorry we cannot find the file you requested, it may have been removed due to new government regulations. If you were linking to this page we apologize for the inconvenience"

    And that's it.

Obviously if someone is redirecting their 404's to dialers and shit that's not cool.....but if submitters do something similar to what I posted above can we get a moratorium on the blacklist?

Intersting idea, though I doubt it will go into effect...

So the people who do care about complying with the law should get blacklisted and the people who don't give a fuck about the law should get all the traffic?

Then they should be blacklisted dont ya think? Its one thing not to be prepared, yet working on it. Its quite another to just ignore the rules all together.

          Just my opinion.
SIG TOO BIG! Maximum 120x60 button and no more than 3 text lines of DEFAULT SIZE and COLOR. Unless your sig is for a GFY top banner sponsor, then you may use a 624x80 instead of a 120x60.

As long it's a plain 404 and not redirected to a page filled with ads, I will not blacklist.

Why should any TGP put themselves at risk because of a silly law that is only out to screw them?

I think it was CD that raised an interesting point earlier.... if a sponsor shows preference to non US affiliates that it will piss him off.

CD said he would drop that sponsor... is that the general feeling among US wm's?

If you requested that of me this is what I would say....

Each gallery change will be handled on a case by case basis to make sure no one cheats. If all you have done is take down a page you will not get blacklisted. If you redirect or add anything malicious to a page you will get blacklisted. Redirects we don't like because now the link does not match the content and it affects our surfers.

To give a blanket moratorium is like asking the treasury to print you some free money. You may be honest but not everyone else is. This will also be in effect until 6/23 not 6/30 as we will not assist you in breaking the law after 6/23. All new submissions effective immediately must be compliant per the regulations that go into effect on 6/23 and not the current/old 2257 regs. This applies to ALL submitters and not just US submitters as we believe in a fair and equitable market place.

If your gallery does not have a valid 2257 link it will not get listed. We will also spot check addresses on your 2257 page and make sure they are correct.

I wasn't asking for a blanket moratorium...obviously if it's a malicious redirect then the submitter would be blacklisted.

However, alot of TGP scripts are set to auto blacklist any gallery/submitter that 404's or changes the page after submission....and this is what I'm referring to with the "moratorium"....don't auto blacklist the 404's....check them out and if they just took down a page and put up a vanilla 404 page, let them keep submitting in the future.

I don't think you'll find many people turning off the auto blacklist and saying that I would on GFY is an open invitation to get screwed. It is not going to be fun to sort it all out and I will look and see who was blacklisted and for what reason. I use Brownie and Comus so it may be that your galleries submitted to me are fine but you changed one on another TGP run by Brownie and now it is telling me you are blacklisted for that reason. It is a submitters nightmare but I will do whatever I can to help within reason.

Well obviously we expect you to auto-remove any gallery that 404's or gets changed....that's a given.
Saying you won't auto-blacklist isn't inviting yourself to get screwed, since you're still going to de-list the offending gallery.....I'm just asking that you let those webmasters submit again in the future. (the ones who didn't redirect the traffic, but just took down the non compliant pages)

My rule about deletions has always been straightforward, that's it's no problem providing deleted pages only throw up a standard error 404 message from the server. Anything else - to my checking software at least - is identified as a redirect and it is therefore banned. Turning off the checking software, even for a few days, would be an open invitation to be screwed.

The bigger problem is more likely to be changes people want to make because their existing galleries cannot be made compliant. It's bad enough to consider hand-checking each changed gallery to decide whether or not the change was innocent. But to really make it work, the descriptions would need to be re-written and/or the linking thumbnails changed. That could be a huge task and right now my inclination is to say no, delete those galleries and submit new ones.

I'd prefer that you linked it to a nonnude gallery of some sort. It can include that statement.

Hey Lenny. I have no problem be understanding in these times. As long as the tgp owner is respectful of our traffic and doesn't hit my surfers with misleading pages or popups etc I'm ok with it.

I guess I will probably delete 3/4 of a million galleries in my database

I figured you would be understanding about this, most of the "big" TGP guys are. When the new regs were first proposed Shemp told everyone he would go easy on them for changing pages etc in order to comply with the regs......I can only assume people like you and Pierre and Patrick will take the same stance on the issue.

It seems to be the little guys that are on power trips who want to blacklist everyone in the world.....even though you'd think this kind of responsibility is exactly what you'd want from people you have linking relationships with.

I'll be deleting all my freesites and galleries that I have subbed in the past that contain any sexually explicit material. Being blacklisted is the least of my worries.
I will however attept to contact LL and TPG that I have subbed them to. The bad thing is a lot of LL and TPG's never sent confirmation emails. So I'll be contacting them all regardless.
