People are going to go to jail over 2257.....for 5 years a pop.

I'm not following the whole .XXX thing that closely, but nobody is going to jail over that as far as I can tell.

WTF are some of you people thinking???

simple actually - everyone goes to .xxx then any IP's simply have to block all addresses to .xxx - no business.

that would be unfair for my pills.xxx casino.xxx and football.xxx domains!!

and now get rid of your .com domains as long as someone will be stupid enough to buy them:

I dont even know exactly what 2257 is about, but .xxx makes me thinking about leaving this biz since the most valuable thing that I own right now, are .com adult domains :/

So "no business" is worse than 5 years in jail?
How much "business" will you be doing from that jail cell?

And even to make this comparison you have to assume the people will quit surfing for porn and buying porn just because the porn sites moved to a different TLD.

Lenny, I usually agree with you on most things I have read, However I feel .xxx is far worse than the new 2257 reg's because...................

if your in compliance, your in compliance. It's the law, we have been made aware of this law, and it's time to do our job and follow the law. ( all set on my end btw). So there is/should be nothing to worry about in that regard.

However when a program is established and has been in business for a very long time, it has surfers that visit from bookmarks, and type-ins ( yes they still exist) A large part in that is a stable and memorized domain name. So with that being said. .xxx opens up the possibility of ISP blocks. This can never be viewed as a good thing. Aol gets a new CEO and he feels it is his moral duty to "protect" BAM block .xxx TLD's. Comcash, Brighthouse, all of these large cable companies do business with govt regulatory commisions, and deals happen. I wouild prefer to leave nothing to chance. The mere approval of .xxx imply's a NEED for it. And imho opens up a dangerous pathway.

I hope you understand where I am coming from.

This isn't a doom and gloom. They can't force every adult site in the world to change to .xxx or .sex. If the US tried to make a law to force us to .xxx it would just get locked up in court for years. Do you really think hustler, and other major adult companies would stand for this? I guess it would be world wide refund for all domains that have been reged for years, millions of domains, just poof, gone. Please.. Get a grip on life, the world isn't out to get us, only your own mind is.

yeah but if you comply with 2257 you don't have much to worry about.
if you comply with .xxx there are huge chances that you will be in a cyber ghetto with no one but your other ghetto thugs to keep you company. that's kinda like jail

Complying with the new 2257 regs is easier said than done.....it's very draconian and tedious....and I could end up in jail for 5 years of I'm missing a url that a model's image is on.

Even if in the future they force adult sites to move to .XXX we'll still do the same amount of sales overall.....people love to surf porn and always will.
