Colin, why do you always start posting in defense of conservative positions even when the conservatives are nakedly wrong?Originally posted by Almighty ColinWeak argument and a popular commy argument at that. No one has ever implemented a purely capitalistic society either. The latter half of the twentieth century resolved the debate.
How many communist states are left? You can count them on one hand. Cuba is dirt poor. North Korea is half dirt poor. Laos and Viet Nam? More fractions of dirt poor. China succeeds insofar as it FREES its markets.
Do you just want to be different or something?Comment

are you saying the US is not it debt?
republicans have fucked up the country.
clinton had that shit under control and had a 200 billion dollar surplus when he left office.
the deficit now is almost 8 trillion dollars
to pay it off every US citizen would have to pay 28 thousand dollars each
The National Debt has continued to increase an average of
$1.67 billion per day since September 30, 2004Last edited by jonesy; 06-02-2005, 12:35 PM..

Positive: Freud popularized talk therapyOriginally posted by Lenny2Conservatives pick the Ten Most Harmful Books of the 19th and 20th Centuries
Introduction to Psychoanalysis
by Sigmund Freud
Negative: His methods and theories didn't have any basis on actual science/statistics. Indeed, misguided reliance on his theories exacerbated problems rather than help resolve them.
Fortunately, he's been largely superseded now....Comment

...err ok...
Sigh...yes I know conservatives/right wingers are in every country, just those in the US always seem to do things like produce these lists, and try and dictate morality to others way too overtly, which for someone who sees it happen from outside of the US it's quite amazing. Perhaps you are so used to it, that it doesn't make you stand back in amazement??Originally posted by jonesywhat never ceases to amaze me is that assholes like yourself from other countries forget about their own history - conservatives/right wingers are in every fucking country.

What's with the hostility anyway?? It lowers the level of argument
How did we get onto western imerpialism? I'm quite happy to debate it though

Thanks for taking a personal interest :-POriginally posted by dig420Colin, why do you always start posting in defense of conservative positions even when the conservatives are nakedly wrong?

I'm a capitalist and so are you. What's wrong with attacking commies? I don't care if the failures of communism are a liberal or conservative argument. It seems pretty clear to me that is what has happened. If conservatives just happen to be right about commumism; so be it. If the commies make a comeback I'll happily admit it. The specter of Adam Smith is lording over Marx' grave.
I'm liberal and conservative - depends on the issue. For example; I'm mostly liberal on capital punishment, abortion, civil rights and most recently social security. I'm mostly conservative on defense spending and prison sentences. I'm conservative in the sense that I am less in favor of change than for it. I'm liberal in that I think the government interferes too much in people's personal lives. In reality, I am not even clearly on one side of the fence on most of the big issues. There are good arguments all around if you ask me.
Now, the answer to your question. US webmasters are something like 80% liberal. Non US webmasters are something like 95% liberal. So in any debate there are many more voices on the liberal side and thus many more points worth debating on that side. It's boring in a 20-1 to jump on the 20 side.
But you missed 12 Clicks and I debating social security a few weeks ago.

Wanna know the funny thing? The recent budget deficit was a Keynesian stimulus. It's how you beat a recession; spend more money and lower taxes. But Keynes would not have advocated these things after the recovery.Originally posted by jonesythe best is they blame the current deficeit on FDR.

great britain up until world war II is guilty of everything you acuse the states of on every level.
do we need a history lesson here?
im not amazed at the ridiculous things the right wing say, because theyre a ridiculous group of people.
but what amazes me is when laws are passed and judges are nominated that are conservsative and most americans dont give a shit or dont know whats going on.
im well aware of what the rest of the world thinks of americans and america but youve got to understand (which im sure you do) that goverment is NOT represenitive of its people and that goes for every nation on earth...
cheers.
