About 2 years ago or so I went to one of those cheesy check cashing places and they wouldn't cash an epoch check.Originally posted by SykkBoy2I bank with a credit union and have never had to wait for funds on an out of state check....or if I don't feel like driving across town to the credit union to cash a single check, I'll hit one of those cheesy check cashing places, pay the $4-5 and save on gas, traffic headaches and bullshit ;-)
They called the bank and epoch's bank wouldn't verify the funds, so they wouldn't cash it.sig too bigComment

Originally posted by simple simonnothing to do with the patriot act, I think their blowing smoke up your ass. My bank has had a 7 day policy for 10 years I been with them. Any out of state checks
That's because you have HORRIBLE credit or a horrible banking record.Comment

Exactly the same here, although I moved to a new house and I have to drive about 20 min, I still go to the same bank every single time I have to deposit checks. They have a small foreign exchnage department and basiacally everybody knows my face. I get my money 2-3 hours after depositing my checks (only exception is when I drop them on Saturday, then I get my money on Mon or Tue).Originally posted by mardigrasAre you in the bank enough for that teller to recognize you? I always go to the same branch drive-through and 99% of the time it's the same lady. The account is only used for my sponsor checks, so they are always out of state. As soon as I deposit one I can go around to the ATM and check my balance and it's been added.Comment

Yeah it's a banking expense, just like buying checks or monthly account feesOriginally posted by V_RocKsHere is a tip: Make more money. Lots more money. Then the wire transfer fees seem like a joke.
BTW, anyone know if the wire transfer fees are tax deductable?sig too bigComment

Doesn't sound right to me, but my bank hasn't ever given me a problem with it.Originally posted by Hornydog4cooterJust got back from 2 diffrent banks and was told it will take 7 days for my sponsor's out of state checks to clear. These checks were from 4 diffrent sponsors. Both banks told me some new law with the patitrot act is being fully infoced now. So if you make a out of state deposit the check will be held for 7 days. So if you are looking foward to having your money the next day it will not be there. Just a heads up for you guys
