When I was about sixteen I took my dad's motorcycle out after school without permission - I had never driven it before. Sure enough, less than a mile from the house I laid it down. He walked into the garage, looked at me without saying a word, smashed what was left of the fairing with his bare hands, and then walked past me.

I was very proud of how it was handled here at home.... my kids have the greatest Dad I have ever seen. He didn't come unglued or anything, and doesn't usually when these serious things happen like this. He was mad, sure, it was HIS truck and a careless move on the part of my son. BUT he remembers being that age, so rather than yell and scram like most dads would do, he simply said.... "I love you, I am glad you are ok, but you have to pay whatever has to be paid to clean this mess up".. and it was over.
I finally got to speak to the kid that hit him tonight, and heard from a couple of witnesses. He was going way over the speed limit in a school zone and had his blinker on to turn..... he admitted to me he was going way faster than he should have been going. He was picking up his boss' kid and wasn't happy about it.... so that added to HIS intensity a bit. PLUS he is an Army brat, he has been in 6 accidents in the past 6 months and swears not one of them was HIS fault..... lol
