    Somebody explain me about wires?

I dont understand how to make a "wire".
Its a form of payment we dont use over here.
I am supposed to send money to a bank in Curacao. There is also a bank mentioned in the usa though that is supposed to be an "intermediary bank"
I can not find the data for a wire to Curacao so I think I am supposed to send it to this American bank and they will send it to the one in Curacao?
I just put in the details and they send it to the other bank? Is this how it works?

Yep, that's how it works. Go to your bank. They'll give you a wire form. Fill it out and you're done.

      Thank you.
I forgot to say I live in The Netherlands. We dont have wireforms.
I will have to fill in the data on out internet system.
A fedwire is the same as a wire right?
Should I choose to share costs, pay all costs myself or costs for the receiver? What is usual?

They're very rarely used around central Europe. Mostly you use them when dealing with the US or Far East. They can be a huge pain in the ass when going between Europe and the USA with the various account and transfer numbers usually being called different things too. I just started a thread about a wire problem

Easy enough if all parties are in the same country but as I say often a pain in the ass when they aren't.

The costs suck as well. To receive a wire from the usa costs me about 45$.
The sender charges 30$ and then I have to pay $15 to recieve it.

In Europe we dont use wires and we dont even use checks.
I think I solved my problem. I called the Dutch bank related to the receiver from the Dutch Antilles....

              Are you kidding?

Get a Swiss bank account, problem solved.

Wires are not common in Europe?

All I'm doing is wires... fuck checks!

Strange it would be so different in NL...

I will tell you more. Internetbanking is the most common form of banking here these days.
We just transfer money instead of wiring it....

WIth ABN amro, you can send a "wire" instantly in online banking. However, thi sis limited to European bankaccounts. When you want to send money to the USA, you have to goto the bank.

If we're talking about the same thing that's not quite the same as a wire though. Most transfers inside of Europe are free or very, very cheap and the info used is different. Start dealing with the US and true wires and it can become very complicated and as you say usually involves a trip to the bank too

To receive a wire you should check your bank statement. The so-called IBAN and SWIFT info is located there.

To send a wire, just go to your bank and tell them you want to send money to an account in another country. They'll help you out.

You can also send online, like Andre said.

Not on ANY of my statements from 3 separate banks it isn't. It's also not always that easy to send money. As I said elsewhere Germany seems to have a system closer to that used in the US than many other European countries.

I think the confusion with Europe and the U.S is purely based on terms.

A "wire" I believe is mainly a North American term and simply means an international bank remit. The system often used for wiring a payment is SWIFT which allows international banking in over 200 countries.

I would think 99% of the banks throughout the world will understand if you say that you need to make an international payment via Swift or a similar system.

Hope this little bit of info helps Pornopat.

I think you are trying to fund epassporte. Their wire info is confusing

When sending wires from europe, simply send directly to the bank in Curacao, ignore the US intermediary info. Thats what we always do (using ING bank)

Almost every bank has wire transfers.

I have sent and received wire transfers from Netherlands banks. ABN-Amro and Rabobank.
