Normally I would agree with you. In fact I'd say this is true in 4 out of 5 cases. BUT - I was VERY shocked to learn yesterday that my husband's great uncle (a man in his mid seventies) doesn't know his roman numerals. Not all of the older generation managed to get a better education then those being educated today. I really was surprised. I figured that roman numerals, like a basic comprehension of world geography, would be something that nearly everyone in the 'civilized world' would posess. The old fucker is an asshole but I never figured him to have THAT extreme sort of basic ignorance. Go figure.
