Anyone watching "Operation Homecoming" on TLC right now?

I'm not afraid to tell you that the reunion scenes are making tears spring out of my eyes..... I remember coming home from Desert Storm in '93...

Anyone else here know what it's like to come home after a year deployed in a combat zone? Does it jerk the tears out of you too?

    Yes and yes.

I've stood on an empty pier, crying for friends who had shipped out and I've been the first person to the same pier to welcome them home. I've greeted fourteen ships, and each ship brought home friends and people I consider family. I bawl my eyes out each time.

I've walked down the welcome home gangplank once, and into the arms of a dozen friends who each held a rose, giving me the most wonderful feeling of love I'd ever experienced.

I'm kinda glad I don't have access to cable TV. I'd be crying profusely.

Wow...... NOBODY can relate to this?

I'm not saying that combat is fun in any way...

....because it isn't. (mostly scary) But in some ways I feel sorry for you that haven't seen the downs and (more importantly), the ups of it.

Just beat me to my post...

It's really weird. I'm sitting here, with my laptop, watching TV... And then the reunion scenes come on.... and the next thing I know, tears are just rolling down my cheeks...

It's getting my girlfriend all upset.. (she's never seen me cry before)

you, sir(or ma'am), have revealed yourself as a moron that has never given to anything greater than their own personal self interest. You have no idea what it means to serve anyone but yourself and care for others in an honorable way. I truly feel sorry for you.
