    Considering putting my name down as a bone marrow donor. Anyone else done it?

              I have considered it. In addition to being painful, from what I understand you get an initial typing which is only accurate for a short while, but since your bone marrow composition changes fairly regularly, when a possible match is found later you will have to have another typing just to see if your marrow is still compatible.

                  I did not know that was possible. I know it's common that high dosage chemo patients have bone marrow harvested and then reinserted after the treatment is completed since they will kill the cells completely.
                  sounds like that could potentially cure cancer where the patients is too sick to use his own bone marrow.

                              Ask anyone who has had screws or a rod, plate, or other fixture implanted into some part of their skeletal system if they would like to do it again sometime. And then decide if you want someone drilling a core sample out of your thigh

                                  you want to check into Peripheral Blood Stem Cell Transplant...its very similar but pretty much painless...
