I agree, it most likely cost more in energy to open all that up and closing it than it would save on heating or cooling... so I'm guessing it's just a toy... I saw it on Science Channel the other night also. Maybe it would be good to let your dog in the house, along with squirels, stray cats, beavers... etc...lol
