Where'd you get that statistic? Most of the major sightings in the past few years have been in Mexico. There have also been some huge ones in Russia.

ummm I can't say how I know and have to be careful about wording but ...

There are crafts that are 100% human built being flown that many, many would and have been consider(ed) UFO's.
They aren't always from remote 'non-existant/existant' places like area 51
and they aren't always from military bases

and no, its not a big conspiracy (ok well the secrecy is) but its no alian invasion secret conspiracy!

          http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Affirming_the_consequent

Affirming the consequent is a logical fallacy in the form of a hypothetical proposition. The fallacy of affirming the consequent occurs when a hypothetical proposition comprising an antecedent and a consequent asserts that the truthhood of the consequent implies the truthhood of the antecedent. This does not work bidirectionally.

          http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Falsifiability

""Falsifiable" does not mean "false". For a proposition to be falsifiable, it must be possible in principle to make an observation that would show the proposition to be false, even if that observation has not been made. For example, the proposition "All crows are black" would be falsified by observing one white crow."

Your arguments are full of logical errors. Those are just the two main ones I have time to post.
And whats your point? That I cannot prove with certitude my claim? Never said I could .... However... with a bit of judgement.. you can analyse the evidences in front of you and make a judgement based on logical probabilities.. In other words.. you can be pretty certain of a claim without said "scientific proofs" .. Btw.. are you pretty certain that your mother loves you? If so.. how did you come up to that conclusion..?

Again, your aliens must have the technology to overcome space and time to get here in the first place. If this is the case, there is nothing that any government could do to stop them from landing en mass in front of all of us and saying hello because we do not have this kind of technological advancement. But in all great UFO legends, this never happens, why is that?

WHat the hell are you talking about man..!? Funny how the skeptics always ask for bullet "scientific proofs" yet they always came up with the most absurd arguments when trying to disprove the UFO phenomenon.. Double standard maybe..?

Most arent disputing that... that the US now have "the" technology.. mmh.. btw.. did the government had the same technology in the 50's and 60's ...? Which would explain all the sightings by military personels, aviator, etc...

there is technology now that some would consider 40 years more advanced than we're 'supposed' to be
so whats to say 40 years ago there wasn't technology around, that only a few were privy to, that others would consider more advanced than THEY 'should' have been

the Myans are a good example

                Furthest thing from the truth!

You would be bowled over to see the overwhelming reports that come in from S. America alone! Just this week the Brazilian Government became the first to de-classify their 50 years of UFO files. When they did that shit it scared the fuck out of the U.S. Government. France and the U.K. already let some things out. It's ONLY the U.S. Government that will threaten you for putting out too much info on UFOs.

China ain't bullshittin' either. They're amassing such a HUGE UFO reseach and public information program that it dwarfs anything anywhere else. It's the ONLY subject that the mainland Chinese and Taiwan and Hong Kong agree on investigating.

This thread is still going??? Amazing!

In all my years of UFOlogy this is one of the most fierce, enlightening, balanced and well debated debates I've ever read. You guys are webmasters, you're above the norm in intelligence and generally can cut through the bullshit because you have to deal with it in business every day.

I also know for a fact that all of you have far more talent and experience in other fields from the arts to the sciences. There ain't no shortage of brain power round these parts for sure!

Believe it or not, the one man responsible for elevating the field of UFOlogy and the paranormal sciences and alternate energy is none other than Bob Guccione! He had OMNI Magazine out for years and it was the only decent place that looked at paranormal things with a professional focus. So it stands to reason some revelations would be had from his offspring, us.

You top webmasters spend more on drinks and dinner in a month than the majority of UFOlogists spend in a year for research. No one is throwing money at UFO research until some scary shit happens and then we're all called on tv or some shit cause the kids can't sleep.

UFOlogy is where the money for the future is gonna be. Alternate energy, new technologies etc. That's why it's a hotbed. The poweers that be aren't worried about 'aliens' they're worried about you getting in on the ground floor of some new discovery that will fuck up their banking plans.

That's the ONLY reason for the blatant resistance and threats and ridicule UFO researchers, witnesses etc. are facing.

Thar's gold in them UFOs and your greedy ass neighbor don't want you to find out.

                        Sport Model

String theory is proving that there are higher dimensions and that the fabric of space-time exists on one of several membranes that we are all attached to and that the fabric of space time can be streched and warped around us. I don't think UFO's are passing through dimensions, rather, I think that they are manipulating our own fabric of space time around them to travel vast distances within our own universe. String theory is also proving that gravity is the only thing that can pass through to higher dimensions. Think about how weak of a force gravity is yet how powerful it is. Theorists say that the reason gravity can be broken so easily is that gravitons, if they exist, are not attached to our membrane and so, they can pass through to a higher dimension leaving the membrane that we are all attached to.

I think that string theory proves that there are higher dimensions but since only gravitons can pass through, UFO's must be from our own universe. Also if they were from another dimension, they wouldn't be able to function because the laws of physics that we funcion with would not be the same as theirs according to theorists.

Here are some free videos on string theory:

                        SexJEDI,

                        Good points and references!

Lazar is a controversial figure in UFOlogy. The top UFOlogists rag on him all the time, yet he keeps on hitting the mark in areas that can't be shoved away! Lots of people hate him, which makes me side with him on many areas.

It IS on other news stations! In the news pools various affiliates pick up stories that AREN'T exclusive. He's being interviewed day and night believe me. I might hop out to Vegas to visit him.

UFOs are a hot story this year. Peter Jennings and ABC did a special a few months ago that fucked the top UFOlogists and they got PISSED. Even the skeptics admitted the tv special wasn't fair.

                            Bad decision.

So now practically every month new UFO info is coming out. This guy 'Prophet' is a character for sure, but it emphasizes the publics overwhelming thirst for UFO answers cause they're not getting them from the mainstream sources.

Sure 'some' UFOs are top secret craft and missions but unfortunately not ALL of them are.

The U.S. wasn't flying top secret missions since the beginning of recorded history when people reported these things then.

Y'know, if we labeled everyone who had a religious bend a 'half-brained , crazy psycho' you'ld have to put over 6 Billion people in the mental ward.

Look at what most of the mainstream religions proclaim and tell me if you'ld never heard of them before and someone waltzed into your house saying what they believe you wouldn't call the headshrinkers?

Not to insult other people's beliefs but one man's religion is another man's good laugh.

So he claims he's in contact with extraterrestrials. Most Christians and Muslims claim to be in contact with ghosts, angels, etc.

They even have tv shows where they make those claims as well as news services, radio shows, even global holidays that make trillions of dollars.

So for my money, a guy says he can contact extraterrestrials it makes scientific sense. Not saying it's true, just that it's something we can put in a lab.

Actually, Perry Ferrell from Porno for Pyros summed it up in his song "Pets":

                                    children are innocent
a teenager's fucked up in the head
adults are even more fucked up
                                    and elderlies are like children

                                    will there be another race
to come along and take over for us?
                                    maybe martians could do
                                    better than we've done

                                    we'll make great pets!

my friend says we're like the dinosaurs
only we are doing ourselves in
                                    much faster than they
                                    ever did

Like that portal thing, Discovery already did a documentary about the Bermuda triangle and showed why ships etc disapear there. And their explanation made a lot more sense than being a portal to another dimension.

I believe the gov tests a lot of experimental things, and that has probably accounted for almost all sightings. Until a flying saucer lands in broad day light and an alien steps out, I don't belive.

wouldn't be surprised that he has a "team" of some sort working with him and set them up a a mile or less away while he went to "pray" with the news reporter. The team released whatever it is into the sky which made its appearance once it got to a certain height.

These sorts of things are more easy to fake than you would think. Plus, if he really does have supernatural powers all he would have to do is contact James Randi www.randi.org and apply for the 1 million dollar prize he offers for any real demonstration of supernatural powers.
That theory's all good EXCEPT if you had read or listened to the original you would have noticed that the news crew picked the time and place of his demonstration NOT him.

He had no idea where or when it would take place so how could he have set up a crew of people to launch something to appear where he didn't know he was going to be and when???

I suppose humans are in 'quarantine' from the rest of the intelligences which've evolved out there. If there's the wealth of knowledge, life, and intelligence that statistics say there should be in the universe, it makes a lot of sense to keep races like us in a 'play pen' so to speak, untill we ever reach a stage where we could be responsible in the 'real' universe.

                                              Just a thought.

I know that what I'm about to tell you may seem far fetched. But please understand that what I'm about to tell you is 100% fact. Please read the following with an open mind. I too, didn't believe it until I experienced it.

The so called UFO's that you see, are not coming in from outer space. They are in fact flying machines a lot like a plane or helicopter. They are not traveling 100's of millions of light years away. They are, in fact right here, on this planet, just in another dimension.

I know. It sounds strange right? But it's true.

The UFO's are merely passing from one dimension to the next. It's like they pierce a hole in the fabric of the parallel universes.

Imagine you are in the passenger seat of a road trip and you are going thru the country side. You nod off, and when you wake up you are in the city. When you closed your eyes you were in the sticks, and when you open them you are in a city. It's sort of like that.

The "Roswell" crash was in fact a UFO. An "Alien" family that had accidently passed thru dimensions and was so disoriented by the experience that they lost control of their craft, and crashed. The Aliens... or "portal jumpers" are almost always scientists... astronauts if you will, that pass thru to observe us. They rarely travel far from the portal, and they leave just as quickly as they came.

I'm not sure if the portals are always open or if they can control them.

I do know however that there are 3 known portals. One has been sealed.
The area known as Area 51 does in fact contain a portal and our scientists have been studying how to control it, and have indeed created crafts that can hover. The crafts are only the secondary project. The primary study is control of the portal.

The sceond hole is in Roswell. The scientists haven't been able to fully understand how this one works. It only seems to work one way. It only seems to allow the jumpers to enter our dimension. We're not sure how they get back to their dimension.

The 3rd hole which no longer works. Is in fact the area known as the bermuda triangle. When the hole was opened our planes and ships passed thru it quite often. More than was ever documented. But that hole has indeed been sealed for fear that too many people may pass thru it, and because the gov't had no way of controlling it.

They think there may have been one in Egypt but that's just speculation.

The geographical earth changes with each portal. As do the beings. It is also believed that some of the jumpers have in fact co-existed here in our dimension for quite sometime.

Again. I know this all sounds bizarre. But you have to suspend disbelief for a moment and understand that space travel is far too complex.. even for the jumpers. They also have not been able to communicate with other planets. They've only been able to explore ours, thru the portals.

I must not reveal my resource. I would not belive any of this until I experienced it myself. I can oly tell you that what I have just explained to you is fact.

Ufology and mainstream religions are equally ridiculous comparing yewfo's to immaculate conceptions and other bedtime stories doesn't make it any better.
Of course it's the same thing.. the rise in ufo belief is directly correlated to a decline in mainstream religion.. people just need something to believe in.

Of course it's the same thing.. the rise in ufo belief is directly correlated to a decline in mainstream religion.. people just need something to believe in.
In the X-files Mulder has a poster on the wall of his office.

It has a picture of a UFO on it with simple white block text at the bottom:

                                                          "I want to believe."

If this is the case, there is nothing that any government could do to stop them from landing en mass in front of all of us and saying hello because we do not have this kind of technological advancement. But in all great UFO legends, this never happens, why is that?

Actually.. They are not traveling through space and time. They are merely opening a portal. Or as explained by someone else, a wormhole, and just simply entering our dimension.

You read other theories about traveling out into space say for eaxmple somewhere near mars a worm hole opens that transports you to another galaxy. When you read the theories they have to create a new set of physical rules to support what they think. They say that womholes are only open for a certain amount of time and a craft traveling thru could be destroyed if it closed. So then the theorists say, "Well... they use 'exotic matter' to keep it open." WHAT??? Exotic matter? It's just some made up shit that no one knows about that just MUST be truth. FOOLS.

I'm telling you, there are no magic wormholes in outerspace. They are here on our planet, interweaving thru all dimensions. These portals are controllable. Just like an automatic door on a supermarket. They can open and close them at will. We just don't know how to control them yet.

Missing people, missing ships, missing planes. They all may be unfortunate victims of interdimensional travel.

The portals are very hard to explain. Dimensions are hard to explain. It's not a natural way of thinking.

Ghosts.. or what people call ghosts, may in fact be people from other dimensions that have managed to pass thru mini portals into dimensions close to ours. So instead of seeing a full fledged figure. We 'feel' a presence, or we sense someone is there.. but there isn't. And when people can "see" ghosts. What they might be seeing is a residual playback of another dimension from a being similar to humans. They are not really there. All we see is like a playback in time. Like a recording, stuck in a constant loop. It explains how people see ghosts walking thru walls.. or repeating the same process over and over for a certain amount of time.

The ghost isn't walking thru walls in his dimension. It's just that the geography, the building or structure, and the timing all lined up and made an imprint on a dimension in time, that semi-materalized in our dimension. And so we were are able to see it, and then it's gone. Our only explanation... it's a ghost.

Dimensional portals have been around since our creation, and will be there long after we pass.

One theory might suggest that after we die we are transported to another dimension.

I belive that when we die.. we die. Nothing goes on. We are simply dead.

As for the UFO's.. they are only unidentified... to us. And they are not millions of light years away, and in fact they might even be occupying the same point on earth as you are, but only in an other dimension.

I'm guessing this is all a publicity stunt to promote the movie and stir up some UFO fever They did a cool online campaign for AI which consisted of a group of fictional websites about advanced robotics and whatnot so I wouldn't put it past his marketing people to come up with a new stunt about alien invaders...especially since the most famous incident regarding War of the Worlds was Orsen Well's reading it on the radio and causing nationwide panic.

There is nothing mentioned that he had no idea where or when it would take place, what the reported says, "We picked the time, place location." They picked the time, place and location, but nothing is mentioned that he was blindfolded, or taken there in such a way that he could not notify anyone to follow him. Where does it say in this news report that he was blindfolded or not told of the picked location before arrival? It doesn't. And this is how mythology starts, with modifications like this that make a story seem more miraculous.

Ok, now lets say for sake of argument, that in fact, the news reporter took great precaution securing his subject in a way that he had no prior knowledge until he was put in the middle of that field with a blindfold on. Let's assume this reporter has at least some rudimentary knowledge of what might constitute a fair test of these "powers." (which was not the case, but lets imagine it to be so):

What did you see in that video tape?

A round shaped object in the sky.

What are the odds that one might see a simple childs helium balloon carried quickly across the sky at any given point in time? Mr. Yahweh only discusses his "hits" never his misses... how many times can the statistical probability of a child's balloon going up into the sky coincide with his numerous outdoor praying events? If I go outside and pray to the sky everyday, there will be a certain probability that something odd looking might float by, at least some of the time. I can make myself look like a prophet if I discard all of my misses and only discuss my hits.

He claims he's not getting rich off of this, and he may very well being honest about that. However, a lot of charlatans do get rich off of innocent people who simply do not understand how probablility works with hits and misses and what sort of proof within the mathematical probability would constitute a "suprnatural" or beyond what is predicted by probability. How would you feel if it was your grandmother sending her pension checks to one of these people?

Your species manages to gain sentience at some point in geological time. The odds of this being somewhat analguous to the last million years of human development on earth is astronomical. And by somewhat analgous, UFO's always seem to only be a few hundred years ahead of us.. a few thousand at most.. and in reality only really reflects a belief rooted in what we think is futuristic for the time.
This miracle parallel civilisation has managed to outlast it's capacity to kill itself or the planet it needs to live off. You have either started space travel in which case you take millions of years to reach other solarsystems and it's only your descendants that arrive.. or you find some faster wormhole way of travel.. in any case you find earth. With all your super advanced knowledge and incrediblly advanced intelligence you choose either:

                                                                          1. some rural jackass who couldn't even spell "ufo" and give him a probing before, with advanced reasoning, releasing him back to tell everyone instead of just vaporising him and not risking your secret mission of redneck ass raping.

                                                                          2. put your mind voice into some nut job no one will take seriously and allow your message to get mixed up with quasi-religious speak... and you allow this guy to run arround with tv news crews and you send him ill defined balls of light and let him charge $7.95 on his website for them instead of letting him summon a craft to ground level, or a being or something actually going to persuade anyone... no with your advanced intellect you opt for fuzzy inconclusive light balls that could have a dozen other causes... Because with all your advanced intellectual power you like wasting time and being at this idiots beck and call for no real tangible effect.

Have you seen K-Pax, not saying his explainations are the way it would be done, but it's one good idea; harnessing light and light travel, but going 1000s of times the speed of light, therefore your "1 million lightyears away" can be turned into "10,000 lightyears away" ... or even down to days to travel a million lightyears.. there's no reason it's not possible, just because we haven't done it yet, we might not ever be able to because of our molecular structure.. but a different intelligent lifeform may be able to.

Everything you have stated here is psuedoscience, legend and myth mixed in with a few real scientific concepts, which is what makes it easier for humans to believe in this stuff. A little truth mixed in with a lot of spooks and spirits.

This is something you might be interested in, it's not falsifiable, but it makes for an interesting read since it's based on string theory, which actually does have some mathematical proofs to support it, even if it lacks that necessary physics experiments.

I'm not sure how much of that was actually aimed at me, since you were replying to me. At heart, I'm a skeptic. I have the fascination and wonder of things unseen and unimagineable as part of who I am. I don't really believe in something until I have form of acceptable 'proof' of it. (proof brings me down another philosophical avenue of "how can we really 'know' anything if what we think we know is based off of a series of electrical impulses telling us what is going on around us? as far as some ultimate proof theory anyway.) The point I was trying to convey with my original post, which I believe you got, was that I do WANT to believe. I want to believe in the fantastic. I want to think there is something more out there. Wanting and actually having the belief are two entirely different things. It's that want and hope that I believe keep the human spirit most alive. It is what drives people and fuels imagination.

My opinion on masses believing in religion or ufos or the easter bunny has more to do with them succumbing to how badly they themselves want and NEED something to believe in. Whether the need is to help live another day or for a sense of greater purpose I think many go in too willingly without letting their calmer, more rational portions of their ego to have too great a voice.

I'm not sure if this all made sense, i'm about to run out the door in a few mins to party all night and am rushing around.

In fact a lot of times it makes belief stronger. Doomsday and Alien cults don't disband when nothing happens on the date set, some crappy explanation is given like " it has been decided that humans aren't ready" and although they might lose one or two people the majority can't resolve the passion they put into the belief with the outcome and they become even more fervent believers. Look at the Seventh Day Adventists. They forecast the date at which Jesus would return no less than FOUR TIMES and it didn't dampen belief, only their willingness to set more dates lol.

If it's a promotional tool, they'll say that "oh it doesn't count because we were tricked by pepsi's new alien cola branding" as if that makes any difference whether some huckster is angling for attention or money or whether it's a company.

The other major possibility is that because Las Vegas is a mecca for so called ufo's and supposed sightings are made all the time, he's given a 7-45 day time frame (i didn't look at the dates on the news bulletin to work out whether he was changing the dates arbitrarily or just cause it was getting closer) hoping that something decent will happen in that time (or to create a hoax)
Almost like saying "I am the lord Bhutocracy! Some time in the next 45 days a great disaster will happen!" and lo and behold, theres a volcano.. earth quake, landslide, tsunami.. viral outbreak or a dozen other things that are statistically going to happen somewhere in the world over the next 45 days. The willingess to believe is the only factor in how far this can be extrapolated. Is it a head of state being assassinated? a large amount of US soldiers killed in one hit in Iraq? the DOJ cracking down on webmasters lol.
So basically there may be some lights over Las Vegas but it won't be anything conclusive... unless it's a marketing prank. Because you can expect some kind of sighting by someone.. or a hoax to be perpetrated by then.

I mean we all know this advanced race thousands of years ahead of us don't know how to work out the "girls of Krispy Kreme calendar" well enough to give us a time and date of their supposed arrival.
They've been taking lessons from John Edward's ghosts that can't speak well enough to give a full name only the first letter... and apparantly no subsequent ones to spell the name out even if they can't manage more than one letter at a time lol.

Can you imagine humans travelling to a parallel dimension and mind fucking some loon alien who wears his underpants on the outside to let the whole race know we're coming and making the voice in his head say "well General Hainsworth reckons it might be a weekish... maaaaaaaybe a month.. hell make it 45 days! We'll fly low sometime in the next ill-defined period - we don't have our shit together enough to know exactly yet... we're just chilling consuming resouces a few clicks above the atmosphere.. no rush no biggie y'all! - spread the word homie"

I'm not sure if this all made sense, i'm about to run out the door in a few mins to party all night and am rushing around.
yeah matey it wasn't really aimed at you... it's more like im talking with you and any one else reading about the same sorta thing I think we're in general agreement.
Hell one of my favourite books growing up was a great mystery book about ufo's, yeti, the bermuda triangle etc I love that shit and the idea the world could be a more interesting and mysterious place than it is.
But I take it for what it is and with a rational mind. I also love reading about the strange shit people believe in and why they do. I really do have an open mind on the topic.. it's just I'm also very rational and have a good bullshit detector.

It doesn't. And this is how mythology starts, with modifications like this that make a story seem more miraculous.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Probability
