Looks like the U.S. is about 4 years behind in developing the next level of internet network technology. Reporting increased speed of 25 to 100 times what you can get in the U.S. it says that it will be 2010 before the U.S. catches up.

Very true, I've been learning with my son for a couple years now. Even though English is compulsory in schools there , Chinese people, like anyone else, would much rather communicate in their own language so Mandarin will be a very valuable skill to have in the future and even now

I spend a great deal of time in China...And I have no clue where the media back here gets these ideas about some sort of technological superiority there. You have nothing to worry about, move along.

actully fiber controllers utilize 2gbps gbics they look just like 1gbps gbics, also there are 10gbps gbics/controllers out in the world. Doesn't surprise me that they might have a 2.5gbps card that utilized IPv6.

Actually many universities here in the US have had IPv6 for a while now.. I know guys in college that had it when they were in school. So they really haven't beat us to anything, the technology is here it's just not profitable to get it to end users in their homes and businesses at this point.

The sick sad part of this bullshit is that Congress gave the telecom companies billions back in the 90's to make the next generation of internet, and had a timeline for blazing speeds that compared to some of the countries we hear about now.

The telco's spent the loot, and want more.

If anything, we need to start getting pissed off about this kind of bullshit from our politicans, and really start throwing some of these motherfuckers out on their asses.
