Are raves only fun if you are high?

I am not a fan of illegal drugs and the only option on the alcohol front was a really horrible beer and whisky.

6 hours of techno with no buzz is a really bad thing. It was something new and I got laid. All was good but I have no intention of ever doing it again.

Example -

Thunk thunk thunk .. ten minutes or so
DJ scratches the turntable a bit, crowd cheers

That shit was huge when I was in college. I still can't believe the distances we drove at times and the screwed up places we went. Standing around on a damn sidewalk or out in the middle of nowhere waiting for someone to pass out directions.

I'm officially old because I was trying to think of a dollar amount it would take to get me to a rave now, and I can't come up with one. I don't even like going to regular clubs anymore.

I am old too so maybe that is the issue. I like clubs though. This was less of a rave of the old days and more of a club with lots of exctasy and pot. And techno.

I'm with Holly on this... Waiting on the garage forecourt for directions, then joining the party train as it snaked through the tiny country roads of Lancashite. Sometimes (more often toward the end of the 80s), the police had gotten wind and were blocking access at the tinest point on the road. Fun watching hundred of revellers trying to do 3-point turns w/o squashing any sheep.

Ah, the mammories.

Stopped all that nonesense in '96, but it was great fun!

Where you failed was you were not seeing the full scene, 1/2 naked girls unsure of themselves ready to F whoever seems the coolest. add drugs to that mix and it's some great sex!

There are still raves going on? I thought they died in the 90s. Maybe thats because I stopped doing large quantities of drugs and going to them. I could have swore the world revolved around me... Who knew?

and yea lemme break it down to ya. there's nothing idealistic about raves in reality. people come there for 1) music 2) drugs 3) dancing 4) sex People come there to dance, be high and fuck. OK? Now what's the point of even defending or attacking "the scene" then? It either satsifies your lowly needs or it doesn't. And that's personal.

Period. The collection of 15 cans of food to send to the homeless doesn't change shit.
