The traffic has gotten so bad that people are literally desperate to find homes/condos in Tustin, Irvine, Newport, Costa Mesa, etc. It's crazy.

Jeez, as if things couldn't get worse, now the news and talk shows are bringing up the 'race' issue with that big school fight. Even when the cops said that some of the fighting was black on black and latino on latino. The press is tryin' to blow this up.
I have this suspicion that there's gonna be a curfew in certain parts of LA. Not the high end districts where the money is but in the 'hoods' and 'barrios' which may or may not raise tensions higher.Comment

Threads like this make me feel good about living way up in Houghton, Michigan which is 4 hours north of Green Bay, Wisconsin. Other than the long cold snowy winters, we RARELY see any crime, especially murder.
Our 2 colleges bring in a few different nationalities, but those are ones that are well natured enough to be in college, so there's really no problems there.Comment

I'm lucky enough to live in a neighborhood with no crime in an area that's overall moderate, but the stretch of highway that runs through connects 2 large metro areas and we have traffic from all over passing through it. The amount of "road rage" I have seen lately is unbelievable. Just yesterday morning after I dropped my sister off at work I came up to the intersection at the highway (green light) when this asshole in a large truck (who hadn't stopped at the red light) turned right in front of me and went diagonal onto the service road that runs by the highway. I turned right onto the highway, the asshole drives a block down the service road, runs the stop sign and turns left back onto the highway in front of me making me slam on my brakes. He yelled and flipped me off and hauled ass down the highway swapping lanes and passing cars at 20+ or so over the speed limit.Originally posted by Slick

Save the doom and gloom, even Orange County's outskirts are ridiculously overpriced now. Again, I see FEWER minorities even in the less wealthy areas now than I did a decade ago. A good example is something here that locals know as "The Block". A massive 30-screen theater/outdoor mall in Orange, with a colossal skate park, Nordstroms, high-end restaurants, etc. When it opened around seven years ago, they needed an armed presence there to control the clowns, and gang-bangers. It was a little dicey to go.
These days it's a barren wasteland of whiteness, it might as well be Coto de Caza there now. There is little to no security, and you never see any diversity in the consumers. It's amazing, and escalating home/rent prices have everything to do with it.Comment

Not familiar with the area, if housing prices are out of their range then I could see it staying decent. You have to remember the next generation of Mexicans will have 60 relatives instead of 6 to pay the bills though.
