Parked pages are apparently sometimes more valuable to Google than content-rich daily-updated ones, they definitely seem to like pushing them to the top of search results.
At least my pet project which went from PR4 to PR0 over a year ago has finally regained a PR... PR2.

They will do much better if they have paid results from google on there ;)
