Phone calls are too time consuming that's why and they always interrupt your work.

E-mail is a much more efficient and productive way to communicate.

Same thing probably happened when the wired telephone became widespread. Someone on the other side of the city could virtually knock on your door, interrupting whatever you were doing.... now they can tap you on the shoulder from anywhere in the world.
