Attn: Bryan aka Sparks aka Hostive... step inside.

This obviously slipped past you... twice. So I'm going to ask again here. For those who are wondering what this is all about, it's concerning the fact that Bryan's old hosting company, Hostive, disappeared one day without warning or explanation.

Bear with me hear, because I'm not familiar with the particulars in being a host, purchasing bandwith and declaring bankruptcy...

Verio pulled the plug on your bandwith with absolutely no notice whatsoever? You were a day late on your payment and they just cut you off? And you only had one bandwith provider?

Seems to me that a problem like having to declare bankruptcy doesn't just crop up over night. I don't think it's like one day, you're in the black, next day you're deep in the red and bankrupt.

And, even without a bandwith provider, you still have the servers and all the data, right? Again, I'm not familiar with the process, but I'd think it wouldn't have been to hard to get that data moved elsewhere so that you could email your clients and let them know what was going on.

Hell, I'm pretty sure Verio didn't cut off your connection at home, right? I don't seem to remember seeing so much as a post explaining what was going on.

I only had a small virtual account with them. Something like $15 a month. Nothing mission critical, so no skin off my back. But they pulled the plug on all their customers, including those with dedicated servers.

I wouldn't call this a "great drama session". I just think Bryan owes his former customers a decent explanation. Especially since he's got his knickers in a knot over Jon's/Adult Warden's recent confessions.

He could have very easily started in the red, bought equipment, design, advertising, etc etc.... tried it for a few months, noticed the business isn't going anywhere, and then declared bankruptcy...

How he went bankrupt isn't the issue. The fact that he acted like everything was fine and then suddenly pulled the plug on his customer's without warning or explanation is the issue.

You don't just wake up one morning and decide "Hey, I'm going to declare bankruptcy".

I'm not trying to defend them, but what exactly did you expect? A "going out of business" hosting sale?

Stick to nabbing the 50th reply spots, please. I never said anything remotely close to that. Each post I've made in this thread uses the words explanation and/or warning at least once.

In case it's still not painfully clear, I expected a warning and/or an explanation.

He knew his company was going down the shitter and that he was in danger of losing his upstream providers. It's not an issue that cropped up overnight. He could have sent a warning to his customers saying telling them to find hosting elsewhere.

Failing that, he could have posted an explanation on the forums after he pulled the plug on his customers. He had maintained a very active board presence up until then. And then suddenly, he disappeared along with his company, only to reappear a while later as Sparks.
