I've been lucky to have been with relaiable hosting companies and don't have any major hosting horror stories to report...

I always thought Rackshack was spoken highly of?

But, but, but... RS/EV1 sell UNMANAGED servers

You're supposed to be either a sysadmin, or hire someone to manage the box for you... RS/EV1 does only basic support...

I've been at EV1, formerly RS, for a few years now and it's been great.

well not a host but a registrar..

dont register a domain through them they are fucking retarted.

For a favour for a friend i registered a domain through them because of a cheap special they were offering ( famous last words )

They make it damn near impossible to change the dns from anything but yahoo ( because they want you to buy other services like hosting )

Then they dont have domain locking ( and when questioned about this they said , " they are automatically locked " , so i'm like" well if i wanted to switch to another registrar how do i unlock it then ? ", he says they have special security for locking that he cant disclose, so i say . ok i want to change my domain to another registrar right now then because i dont trust this whole setup, and he said he would have to forward the suspend the domain until the process was complete . i almost fucking lost it ( my head ). )

Anyways i never transferred it , because it wasn't worth it but stay the fuck away from them for domains..

Worst host I have been with is FDCServers.net no one can give you any worse support than these guys.
