The owner and photographer is Denys Defrancesco, a frenchman who registered the site without seeking any advice. By the time any native English speakers were on board it was too late as it had developed a reputation under that name.
It is meant to represent the fact that there is a fresh new set every day, ie 1 per day or 1 a day. It just got a continental twist!!!!
The site rocks though!!!!
