This issue is new to me I was not aware of it. After reading almost everything I could about this including every reply to this thread I've come to a conclusion about how this effects me personally and Im going to tell you all because Ive been suprised at some things myself even without this. Now If Im completely correct about this the new 2257 law would require me as a secondary producer to hold all content contracts. Now I've used producers that I wont mention here (you guys know who you are) and some were very good about giving me 2257 documents while others told me to write them under my 2257 page on my website. So if this law goes into effect it's true that I would need to get these records or else I would be "screwed" if the goverment plans to check on me. While I agree the current 2257 records are fair and we do need them to protect our business as well as children. It brings up points like would everyone be suing eachother because they don't have the correct records as a "secondary producer". I will do my part to donate and I hope we can keep this thread to the top for as long as possible. I don't know how new this is to the big programs out there but I'm assuming it's all coming into the open now and more people will be coming to show their support. I'm very nervous about this as I have a website going live with exclusive content very soon and I wanted to weigh in on this issue. Thanks for reading my post if you did.Last edited by ry0t; 05-19-2005, 08:31 PM.Comment

I'd be shocked to see any significant outpouring of money from adult webmasters for this...
maybe I'm a pessimist, or maybe I'm a realist, I hope to be proven wrong...Investor with 5m - 15m USD to invest. Do you have a site or network of sites earning 50k - 200k a month income? I feel your sentiment, but as with the ACACIA issue, the big boys are probably loving this, they can weed out all the slackin ass part timers, while they can afford to employ 50+ people to do NOTHING but ensure their paperwork and documentation is up to snuff...
sadly I have to agree with KB on this, too little too late, I hope this gets held up in courts and that the RIGHT parts of the law get tossed and the rest passed, nothing wrong with protecting kids and people in general, but they have to make it more realistic and fair...for sure this administration does not care about that and this will be a tool to harrass the adult industry :/

A trade association needs more than just money from a few big sponsors, they need numbers of business to join to show they have a large membership. Also, being a member means you have a voice (vote), rather than lurking to the side, and enjoying the benefits of what FSC and its contributors and members are doing.
The basic membership is $300/year which allows you to vote and be active in a trade association that is looking out for your business.

Granted, Republican presidents have placed their picks to the high court, but I do have some faith in our system, that the constitition will be upheld as FSC challenges the parts of 2257 that are over-reaching and un-Constititional.
2257 statute is not a bad thing. It's there with the right intentions to prevent children from being used in adult content. Adherence to 2257 is a requirement, that no FSC challenge can change or would seek to change.
What needs to be changed is various sections of 2257 that could harm solo-site models, etc, etc. (FSC has an excellent write-up on their challenges).
Use of 2257 as a way to enforce moral "obscenity" issues is the real issue.

You could always send in a check for payment.Originally posted by carbondreamit would help if their form would accept donations from canada... it seems its only made for US- they dont take my postal code
For those looking to contribute to FSC, get something out of your financial support. Get a membership first. They have different levels of membership. Put your money into being a card-carry member. Most would probably qualify for the $300/year level.
FSC is a trade association, which means there are issues that members vote on. Without being a member, you get no vote, despite whatever amounts you sent in.
Remember a year ago about the .XXX TLD issue? It was because of FSC members voting it down, that FSC did not endorse .XXX There might be other issues that you feel should be focused on, so having a vote is having a voice.
Any money in excess of the membership is then a contribution to the cause. Membership dues help run the organization, but it's the special contributions towards specific causes that fund that effort.
Having more internet-based FSC members would certainly help to show unity within the adult industry, especially since the internet side is under-represented from the traditional video industry players.
Video is converging to Internet, and Internet is converging into Video. The lines are blurred, but the business and the legal issues are exactly the same.

And $300 is a bargain because I believe it used to be thousands of dollars a year to be a member. Even at that price, it was a great investment in the future of the industry.Originally posted by FightThisPatentThe basic membership is $300/year which allows you to vote and be active in a trade association that is looking out for your business.

just saw attorney general gonzalez on c-span talking about going after "internet porn" and "obscenity" and his plan seems to be to get local law enforcement more involved to police obscenity on a more "community" level... CP was mentioned once "internet porn" and "obscenity" a few timesComment

nobody can really answer your questions with an exact answer... it is sort of a waiting game to see when the new regs show up in the federal register and then go from there... alot of us are supporting the FSC so that if the regs do try to come down on us hard somebody will be there to help us deal with it instead of just telling everybody to "comply or else" which will be hard to do for a lot of webmastersOriginally posted by ry0tWhat am I completely ignored here?
