This is going to totaly freak you out - the scariest thing that ever happened to me was when my cat woke me up with the biggest Preying Mantis you have ever seen in his gob.

He was sitting on my chest with that "How fucking cool am I?" look on his face.

The only protected species are endangered ones. PM's are not. There are over 2000 different species of PM. Although they are not endangered, they are generally left alone because they are natural pest destroyers. Spiders, beetles, crickets, ghoppers and even mice.

lol? a cat on my chest would be far, far scarier than the preying mantis, though they are some disturbing little critters. They don?t seem to be too common where I live, see a few during the summer but that?s about it.
