Are people in the US hooked on paying for things via sms?

I am seriously thinking of launcing a site simular to european

VOD solutions offering movieclips payed by sms.

What are your opinion on this

I find that after living in the Netherlands and coming back here to the USA that the U.S. market has not really adapted to the whole SMS concept as of yet. In Europe you can use SMS for so many different things other than just text but I think that it is growing here here in US so can't hurt to try

I would stay away from it. SMS is not as big as it is for the rest of the world. For some reason except kids no one really uses it.

None that I can recall but that doesn't mean its not allowed. You don't watch TV and see the 3am commericals to get daily 'hot' pictures to your phone for $7.99/wk..

Ah, you mean this. I am not from USA, thats why I ask, because I have another informations. When you talk about this wallpapers for mobile phones, it has some rules in my country. You can sell them but the girl cant have naked some parts of body and it also cant be hardcore. So maybe these rules apply to US also.

there are lots of people that have already looked into this issue and dropped it.

American do not know what SMS is. American don't download shit with their phones. Especially when it cost money. Most American carriers won't allow any adult content to be downloaded anyways. I have Verizon and you can't even access any adult material at all, free or otherwise.

Yes, they take most of the sms price, but its better then nothing and USA is big market to make some money. Its pity that sms billing is not common in US.

It will eventually get here.. just going to take a while. Probably at least a good year or more away from SMS billing being commonplace in the states.

And yea, carriers even tightened restrictions on SMS applications/billing. Even if you run.. for example.. an SMS chat service etc, that "in spirit" is adult, but not advertised as such, they will not work with you... or at least shut you off as soon as they find out if you manage to slip through the cracks.

I've been running a few SMS campaigns for the company I work for and I'm at a loss for words how people can't follow basic directions on what to text in. We even have a shortcode that's live but not marketed and getting random people texting into it (hundreds) - guess they're mixing up the shortcode numbers. The most recent, random text message to this "unknown" campaign was:
