What's at stake to surfers and to webmasters is not the privacy issue that you have on your banner, it's basically about the right for webmasters to show pornographic material and for web surfers to consume that good.
DOJ has made public statements focusing on a "war on obscenity". 2257 is a tool that they can, and probably will, use as a way to knockdown "obscenity".
So to the web surfers, 2257 is just 4 numbers put together, what it should mean to them is the assault on the abilty of an adult to look at porn.
To the webmaster, 2257 should mean 2256 to them (section which defines what "sexually explicit" means) + 1.
I doubt that surfers looking for free porn or at a paysite would jump at the chance to donate money to FSC. What might be more effective, is if paysites contributed some money per signup, and flew some kind of "fight for your right to view porn" banner, that would let them help make a stand with their dollars by joining paysites who contribute to the cause.
Free sites, tgp, etc who generate advertising revenue could jump into the game to offer some contributions to FSC, so that their surfers who frequent ther sites, know that by visiting, they are helping.

Granted, Republican presidents have placed their picks to the high court, but I do have some faith in our system, that the constitition will be upheld as FSC challenges the parts of 2257 that are over-reaching and un-Constititional.
2257 statute is not a bad thing. It's there with the right intentions to prevent children from being used in adult content. Adherence to 2257 is a requirement, that no FSC challenge can change or would seek to change.
What needs to be changed is various sections of 2257 that could harm solo-site models, etc, etc. (FSC has an excellent write-up on their challenges).
Use of 2257 as a way to enforce moral "obscenity" issues is the real issue.

I dontated yesterday and I am encouraging all the webmasters on a smaller board I run also to donate. (Sherm can vouch for that!) Every little bit helps! Sunny and I are members of the FSC and we spent 2 days with them here in Sacramento for Lobbying Days in April, along with Brittany Andrews, Nena Hartley and others, where we met with diffferent staff members, congressman etc. to lobby for the adult industry.
