An Al Qaeda-linked extremist group warned Pope Benedict XVI on Monday that he and the West were "doomed," as protesters raged across the Muslim world to demand more of an apology from the pontiff for his remarks about Islam and violence.
the world feels it is moving in that direction it feels at times. maybe its better for a major clash sooner than later. radical islam won't bend and has massive support all over the globe and they aren't leaving any room for negotiation or compromise.
BUT.... people being people... they will continue to hope for the best right up until the point that the worst rains down on them like a ton of bricks and its too late.
i hate war, i hate the war in iraq.... but at some point its going to have to be done... i say we do it now... the world will never make peace with islamic extremes... they think its their world... how can you convince people like that?
i undestand a person believing in something so strongly, but unfortunately, these beliefs threaten the safety of the world..
but on the other hand, is it any different from the leaders of the US, who believe every country should be under our influence?

For whatever reason, people seem afraid to take pre-emptive measures. It drives me nuts. Something terrible happens and they bitch that nothing was done to prevent it. Prevention happens and everyone bitches that it was unnecessary. Heh.
Diplomacy my ass. Yeh, diplomacy in Darfur seems to be working REAL well. I love when world leaders stand on the podium shouting that something must be done to stop this or that and yet nobody is willing to step up and make it happen.

I don't think the pope can be threatened. If they kill the pope, the war between Christians and Muslims is on --- again, for real!
He apologizes already but it seems not enough. I hope there's a single Muslim with good sense out there who can analyse the context of the pope's
statement and he'll do something right to enlighten his fellow Muslims.
They're mad with the pope for 'stating the obvious' about them, that's what they thought.

"We tell the worshipper of the cross (the Pope) that you and the West will be defeated, as is the case in Iraq, Afghanistan, Chechnya," said an Internet statement by the Mujahideen Shura Council, an umbrella group led by Iraq's branch of al Qaeda, according to the Reuters news agency.
"We shall break the cross and spill the wine. ... God will (help) Muslims to conquer Rome. ... God enable us to slit their throats, and make their money and descendants the bounty of the mujahideen," said the statement.

Nobody has any interests in Darfur. Plain and simple. Leave the women to be raped by the soldiers and the kids to be thrown into the corner of their refugee camps, because we don't care. They have nothing for us.
Makes me sick to the stomach.
