I love it when morons think they're laying some mental trap.

no stooge, what it is is an admission to is that there are many honest businesses here.

              Excellent points

If Chimmy was just an AFF member who couldn't get laid(a rare breed), an affiliate who doesn't know how to send traffic or a competitor, his posts would be understandable.

l however think it is a much sadder case than that. By his own admission he has basically no involvement in Adult.

Therefore why does he give a shit? Why doesn't he go after any one of the millions of other imperfections in this world that actually mean something so he can save the day for all of us. Like misappropriation of tsumani funds or understaffed ER's or what the fuck ever else?

He has chosen AFF as his "Cause du Jour" "bee in his bonnet" or whatever you want to call it and if he can just convince us all that all 12 million user submitted AFF profiles are not 100% accurate, then the world will be a better place and we will all pat him on the back or something.

                  Chimmy, two questions:

                  1) What do you hope to achieve by your earth shattering revelations that dating sites do not, can not and/or choose not to have 100% accurate information? They will not change their format to suit your idea of a perfect world.

                  2) How many blonde transvestite midgets come up in the geo results for your town of Pleasantville?

Focus your zest for research on something important that affects you and that has more than a snowball's chance in hell of effecting positive change.

Some interesting posts while I was off enjoying some lunch.

So, these are "listings" and not "members". Well this might be true, it would appear that the intent to mislead is still there. And please don't insult me by saying, "when members have multiple listings, it is hard to determine how many unique members we have". The listings you refer to are whether they might be listed in multiple listings such as "groiup sex", "transvestites", etc. I would be very surprised indeed if you could not determine exactly how many unique, active members AFF has. And as far as I know, being listed so that your name comes up under multiple interest groups, does not create a need to pay for multiple profiles. And even if it did, pretty well every single member would have to be doing this to make the stats more believable. But even that doesn't do the trick.

And this doesn't answer my other detailed post showing the relationship between Total Active Members and Members Online Right Now. These are clearly defined as being "members", not listings. And, as my analysis shows, there is very good reason for doubt.

And sleazy, there is absolutely no intent to "lie about the real numbers". Instead I am taking the provided numbers and then using other proven statistical data to drill down into the numbers. I assure you, I am using accepted research methodology used to determine the accuracy and validity of statistical data. And I have provided details of my methods, for those who are smart enough to understand.

And to the rest of you that say, isn't there other axes to grind. Sure there is. And if I chose them, your response when still be the same. It's a no win situation.

I see lots of you jumped on the quick explanations. But just because they say every is o.k. doesn't necessarily make it so.

O.K. I've reread the responses, and here's what I have come up with.

The listings number for a geographic area counts each sub group as a listing. So, if a member decides to say he / she is interested in sex, erotic chat, bdsm, bi and fetish, then that member is now worth 5 listings. However, I would question the statement that you would now get paid for the same member 5 times. I would assume that most members simply check off all of their interests, and don't start an entirely new profile for each listing.

Plus, be honest, AFF knows exactly what they are doing when they list number of listings instead of number of members. Both numbers are as easily accessable from the member database..but listings sounds a whole lot more impressive. However, when it comes to total ACTIVE Members, suddenly listings is once again being interpretted as Members, not listings.

Regarding the number of "members" online right now. Again, as I have illustrated, there are many reasons why these numbers do not jive. So, I am left to assume some generous use of the word "members". The number stated on the front page is feasable, IF it is instead refering to number of people on the site at the current moment in time. Notice the distinction between members and people. With members, you would need to have used a VBALID email and signed up for the site. With "people" you may have simply clicked on an ad or blind link that took you to the AFF site, whether you wanted to be there or not.

And the geo-ads, well, those are simply misleading and fraudelent, and not a clever slight of hand.

As I have said before, I "dabble" in adult. My 'day job" is as a Research Scientist with a doctorate specializing in mental health. I spend my days researching "for the common good" and lately, I stumbled onto this site, and found it to be an absolute treasure trove of examples of human behavior. I have also been quite surprised by what passes as acceptable behavior in this industry.

So, to make a long story short, I spend a considerable amount of time examining research evidence, and then determining what factors are present that may affect the significance of the statistical evidence. Hence, my love of stats, and why my first chance upon AFF sent up so many warning bells.

But notice the disparity when it comes to then including these "listings" as part of the TOTAL NUMBER of ACTIVE MEMBERS. You yourself have pointed out that one member may have multiple listings. Having 2 listings does not suddenly make them 2 members.

You want supported demographics? I gave you that a few weeks back. But for now, we will simply throw away my "unsupported demographics" and this would still leave 1 out of 233 MEMBERS online right now. This ignores all such things as access to computer, time zone changes, everything.

But one thing we do have to take into account is that to make your agruement above correct, then the TOTAL number of active members is actually taking into account "listings", not number of people. So, we would have to adjust the total members numbers accordingly to allow for multiple lsitings. But this will not effect the total online. After all, one MEMBER can only be online once at any given time, no matter how many listings they may have.

Sorry, one out of 233 is simply unbelievable. And as shown above the number would be even greater, if you take into account your listings vs. members argument. Plus, you also ignored my post that showed that the average member does not login every day. And this again comes from your own "supported" demographics.

And as far as passion goes, these sites share exactly the same database. The numbers are identical, so sorry, all this says is now you are claiming that 1 in 13 or 1 in 20 or whatever are members of either Passon are AFF.

Plus, that also doesn't explain the rationalization involved that makes it alright for a geo-ad to contain both inaccurate and fraudelent information.

Guys, I have been more then fair and listed all of my statistical evidence and research methodology. Simple fact is, things simply do not add up.

Chimmy, again please answer why you are so passionate about this and what do you hope to achieve by going around in circles rehashing your in depth analysis. You are wasting your time unless you find shitstirring entertaining?

Oh, I give up. But I don't back down.

Only on an Adult Board would spin doctoring and not addressing the facts be considered a victory. You guys definately found you "marks" here.

                                          fucking kids.
Actually it's over 100 billion and they are talking burgers. And I'm sure that's an acturate statement. McDonalds has been around for 50 years. Even if you assume only 80% of Americans eat at a McDonalds in a year you can be sure among that number the average visits per year is at least 12. Now even if only 2/3 of visits is a purchase of some sort of burger, doing the math, that means Americans consume 2 billion McDonald's burgers in a year.

Things may not add up, but the money does and if given the choice between being rich and being right, well I made that choice years ago

What you are failing to see is that the stats may not add up for you, however you are throwing it at people who make a living out of it and therefore are not particularly interested.

Lets look at it another way... We as webmasters who promote AFF rarely have a bad thing to say about them, but most importantly, neither do the surfers who signup via our promotions. If they were aggrieved by something like your statistical analysis then chargebacks and credits would be through the roof. So whilst you are spending your spare time researching your numbers you are mainly satisfying yourself.

Personally I think your time would be better spent signing up for AFF and getting laid. Sex is sooo much more interesting than statistical analysis, and then most of GFY would love your posts when you regaled them with your conquests.
