If you have a ceiling fan, and use an extension to lower it down, be advised that after 12-15 years, you might want to consider going up on a ladder and make sure that the constant spinning has not caused it to loosen itself.

I lucked out this evening when I went down to my den, turned the fan and lights up a little, and sat down on my couch to enjoy dinner.

Suddenly the fan and lights came falling straight down onto me, only stopping because I did such a great job of connecting the power to it. But it was a very close call.

So, every few years you might want to take a look and see how it is hanging so to speak.

The message here is not quite so monochromatic and clear as in your last mishap thread -- but then this wasn't so much a mishap as it was (in your own words) a "very close call"...

Misery loves company . . . . ummm, I think we came up with very different messages from the first episode.

You came up with some inane idea that a falling blender equals "needs a woman" while I came away with the message that I need a new blender.

Speaking of which, and this should probably be filed under "baddog's tip of the day for single guys: part 2," but Oster makes a pretty nice blender, and I believe 4 blades going in 4 different directions works a lot better than 4 blades going 2 directions.

I think the message from tonights episode was that I really need to get one of those 21' Gorilla, 4 in 1 ladders. So I did. One of the advantages of the big city is that you can buy something like that at 9 PM.

Nah, there would not be too much slice and dice, more crash and smash. This fan has wooden blades. I stopped a high speed, metal ceiling fan with my face several years back. It broke my nose, but I bent the blade with my face.

These wooden blades would not stand a chance.

But the literal is so boring -- especially at 3:50AM.
