You guys are off about the coaches as well.
A good coach benefits the players who are " playing for free" more then anything. Think about it, if they paid coaches 50K a year, what type of coach do you think they would get, one that would not give a shit and the players would learn nothing from them. All of these great players are not born with NFL skills, they have talent but it is shaped and developed by talented people (coaches). Some players go to certain schools because of the coach. Some of these coaches have NFL experience.
SO if nothing else a great coach is a payback in education to that player is doing it " for free".
I have no problem with coaches making great salaries. Great coach gets the team to a BCS bowl, he more then makes his salary just from that one game. Bad coach bad season, empty stands, little ticket sales. Great coach, great season, lots of ticket sales, merchandise sales, lots of money for the university, benefits the students... Better players, Player's draft stock goes up, player makes more money in NFL.
