Model Flakes for the 2nd time...

We had a model scheduled to shoot for AllOver30.com who didn't bother showing up last week. She called yesterday and told me it was because she had some emergency family issues. So I told her "no problem" and scheduled her for today. She was due 35 minutes ago. No call. No show.

How shall I punish her if she decides to show or call with another excuse?

Ah yes.. the family emergency excuse.

I've heard that one plenty of times. It ranks up there with the 'fight with the boyfriend, who runs over their cell phone'.

Oh, and my personal favorite 'stomach flu'. I love how some of the girls manage to get that 3 times a year. I remember back when I used to drink that was a personal favorite of mine back then after a night on the town.

If they do that kind of bullshit twice, I just drop them. Regardless of how hot they are. If they do that after they've done a few shoots, I will no longer proactively call them.

Next time she calls tell her that you still have work for her but at a reduced rate for the shoot. If you were going to pay her $200 per hour it's now down to $100 per hour for the next shoot, and the rate/offer will be reduced further if there are any more no-shows without at least a 24 hour notice.

And in the meantime, look for other models (goes without saying).

I've produced for years. Models always flake out of course, however if she is screwing around its always good to tell her you made special arrangements for her etc. Word of mouth is the best way to get/retain/reliable models so be professional.
