One of the benefits of blogs is that they are spidered everyday. From this aspect are you any better off with something like blogger? Or better off with Wordpress where you have a lot more freedom?

Anyone that is interested in SEO certainly isn't going to send their traffic to someone else, and that is what you are doing with blogger.
Besides, blogger has the nofollow tag on comments and trackbacks, so it really makes it so no one is going to be inclined to give you the extra activity.
Put it this way, I may trackback to someone that is using WordPress with the dofollow tag plugin, whereas I will never trackback to someone with the nofollow tag.Comment
