The question is whether this burgeoning relationship between Beijing and Tehran in any way constitutes a major new alliance directed against US interests.
Beijing is open about its dislike of US hegemony in international affairs and has stated that its overarching foreign policy objective is to undermine this hegemony through pursuit of a multi-polar world order. Washington's worry is that the policy may include supporting 'rogue' states such as Iran by engaging in the proliferation of sensitive military technologies relating to WMD or ballistic missiles to rogue states.

There is no way China will become an economic power like the USA in the near future.
USA Gross Domestic Product is around 11 Trillion
China Gross Domestic Product is around 1.7 Trillion
USA population is almost 300 million
China's population is around 1.2 billion
So for China to be on equal terms with the US, they would need to increase their GDP by around 6 times multiplied by 4 as it has four time the number of people. So it should have a GDP of 40.8 trillion!!!
This is just a basic show of how impossible it is for China to be an economic superpower like the USA, even more so since the cold war showed that the world can't have two superpowers.Comment

The figures you presented were calculated using Purchasing Power Parity which for a developing country gives rough approximations but still a useful comparison tool none the less. The 1.7 trillion is the expected figure for this year (that is with 9% annual growth rate in GDP). The worldbank shows GDP for China in 2003 was 1.4 trillion.Comment
