Interesting Question... What Dollar Amount is your Retirement Goal

I've always wondered if others here had a goal that they are working towards and once they hit that goal they could walk away and be happy. I've had this conversation with a few webmasters and it always turns into an interesting one.

So... what dollar amount (if any) would you be willing to retire once you reach?

Yeah but you wouldn't retire once you hit 20k a month net. How much would you want in the bank to retire? 1mil? 2mil? 5mil?

no cash in bank, i would retire with cash generating assets.

5mil usd worth of properties through out the world would be good.

I think I'd rather have a nice house paid off, the kids out of the house or college paid for at least, at least 350,000 in the bank or a second paid off home, and about a 1000$ a week in invested earnings - figure life costs at least 500$ week in living expenses.
I feel like I should be posting something important here.

I don't know what I would do with all my time if I was "retired". Although something in the area of $10 - $20 mil should keep me busy for sometime.

The current "milestone" I'm trying to reach is 500 recurring members stable. Then it will be 1k recurring members stable.

After that, who knows?!?! But I got quite a way to go just to reach the 500 so I'm not to worried about it yet lol

There was an interesting post yesterday by Alex from JasonandAlex.com. He basically said $5,000,000 * 6% Interest = $300k in interest every year and he'd take that all day long. That is pretty much the way I've looked at it. If you can get to a point where your safe investments are making you $150k to $300k a year in interest you are looking good.

It's funny because the number seems to change alot for me. When I started it was wow i could maybe make $100k a year from this. Then it became I could maybe make $1mil from this. Then it becomes wow $3mil would be nice. Then $5 mil is doable. Then $10mil. It never ends. Your expectations go up before you even hit the target.

I think right now the number in my head is $7 million. That's the amount I would want to have to comfortably walk away from the biz and feel good about it. My rationale is that gives me enough to buy a few homes in different cities i want to live in, gives me money to put away and get a guaranteed payday on and gives me enough money to turn around and start up something new if i want to. That is my target number these days.

I'd love to know what guys like Lens, Brad Shaw, etc are gunning for.

$5 million at today's value, home paid for, vacation home paid for, two $1 million trust funds set up for kids (don't have kids yet though, lol), $0 debt. That should do it.

That sounds good. Truth is $3,000,000 saved and earning interest is at least $150,000 a year in interest. That's damn good for doing nothing and that is with no-thinking investing. One thing my first accountant told me is the power money has to make money is unbelievable. It is one of the main reasons I've never overdone it and spent alot on material items. When your money starts to grow the power it has to make you more money is absolutely phenomenal and it increases FAST

10 mil sound good. The key is to achieve any type of return you are not retired. Real Estate is cool but it is work. You put 10mil in stocks and get a 3% dividend plus the 8-10% annual appreciation. You would not live high on the hog at 300k but if you bought your stuff cash and were set before you did this it would last forever.

4 million does not do it. I had a friend retire on 4 mil and he is back working.

                                                                              RIGHT THE FUCK ON!!!!

All my homeboys who are Greek wanted us to retire when we were still in high school!!!

I just got off the phone with the boys back east and they used to want to go back home to Greece to retire and chill out.

I'm on my 3rd retirement attempt. Each 10 years I manage to pull it off but somebody challenges me to a drawin' contest and shit's on and I'm back at it. I'm planning on this year being the final chill out.

Depending on age depends on how you much you should have in assets. At any age $5 mill is the best bet. It's enough to pay for bail and attorneys and lawsuit shit and getting the fuck outta dodge when shit happens.

Basically, when you retire you should do what you want when you want and go where you want. Eat great, rest great, play great.

They sit there worrying and not realizing just putting it away to gain interest puts them in a position where they can't run out of money unless they go insane and even then their accounts and lawyers can stop em'.

You have to break through that ceiling first. Get past people who want to hold you down. Sometimes it takes a while to find out who is stabbing you in the back or leaning on you but when you do and they're gone, BAM! You roll right on into affluence.
