Association of University Teachers in UK still boycott 2 Israeli Universities!

People in UK, I'd like to ask you (if you know anything about this)... is this association really significant and official, or are there other more important teacher associations in the UK then the AUT?

It's going to start happening a lot more until Israel ends the assault on the Palestinians. Academic boycotts of Israel are gaining steam in the US and Canada as well.

Rich, if you think this is going to happen a lot more, then why do you think they haven't boycott the Hebrew University yet? It is pretty known for it's right wing orientation.

I'll tell you why,
Because the Hebrew University has a world class academic reputation. It owns the copyright for all of Albert Einstein's articles.
If the AUT or any other wannabe association would boycott the Hebrew University they would own themselves.

I don't want to get into a debate about Israel's crimes against the Palestinians or their "gaza withdrawal" plan with you Alex, it's futile. I'll look for the examples of future boycotts being discussed, my wife is a college professor and she was at a conference on that subject a couple months back.

Yes it's a fact that this is being discussed more out in the open these days. It used to be if you were against Israeli aggression you were automatically labeled an anti-semite, but this seems to be changing.

I acknowledge the Israeli state, but I would never travel there or buy any products produced there until there is a just peace, and not this apartheid free state bs they are playing at now.

the world "owes us" recognition of our universities... they are are a lot better academic wise then the "Al Quds University"

and the "world" is stupid to boycott the Haifa University out of all due to political reasons because it has the most palestinian students then any other Israeli University.

btw, are there Jewish students in any of the palestinian 'universities'?
