Was watching it on CNN, then made some phone calls to family and to a few relatives and friends in the US, and by the time I thought about coming onto GFY and joining in the inevitable discussion about it this thread was already on page 6.
Great read. I hope this thread is bumped every year at this time.
I think the best post in this thread is:

magnatique, wake the fuck up. If you are a country harboring these killers, you turn them over to the US or you cease to be a country.
I think you underestimate the country's (the entire population) resolve to exact revenge for this.
This isn't about Bush, it?s about Americans. It's always a deadly mistake to underestimate Americans.
I am going to watch Flight 93, 9/11 - The Filmmakers' Commemorative Edition (2002) and In Memoriam. There is another one I need to get that has the documentary of what was going through the minds of the fighter pilots who scrabbled to get to the scene and what they were about to sacrifice. It also includes what the journalists recorded on Air Force One with Bush and what went on behind the scenes with traffic control across this country.
I love this country and my heart aches for all those who were lost.
just reading the first two pages brings me right back to that day .. it's weird because i had no idea GFY even existed at that point .. I was in Long Beach NY that day and watched the smoke from the shore while listening on the radio ...
mods should close and lock this thread.
There's no reason to bump it.
This thread is the only one who should have the *special* rights to be bumped. There's a million reason to keep it alive. Well, at least around 3000 reasons why.
Part of the reason that I have bumped this on the 11th of various years because I think it is easy to forget what actually happened that day and the human loss that we all felt. It is easy to forget because five years there is a lot of baggage connected to the event and so the actual people lost get forgotten amongst the political. So, this gets bumped to remember those people.
This time it was bumped because somebody asked about it, which people would know if they read the post that bumped it.
...we don't spy on Americans, there are no secret CIA prisons, and the Bush Administration embraces human rights, civil liberties, individual freedom and pron...
There is going to be another attack soon, or at least an attempted attack.
Last week, a 'call to Islam for all Americans' was released by Adam Gadahn and Ayman al Zawahiri, who are devout Muslims dedicated to establishing a worldwide Islamic Caliphate.
Under Islamic tradition, a people must be called to Islam, and if they refuse to convert then they are considered 'enemies of Allah' and it is justified (not in real life of course, only in fucked up Islamic bizarro world) to attack those enemies.
Americans were invited to Islam before 911, as were the Europeans before the Madrid and London bombings.
So, since there was a fresh invitation to Islam for Americans, it is therefore apparent that another attack is in the advanced stages of readiness.
For further information, the US Government has just allowed 15,000 Saudi students to be granted visas to study in the US. Since Saudis are taught to hate all infidels and especially Americans, this would not appear to be a smart move by the US Government - they have made no attempt to establish whether or not these students subscribe to the jihad ideology.
Wow, what a blast from the past -- at the beginning of this thread. I think I'll go browse some other forums, to see what they posted on 9/11 .. crazy.
I think this thread should be bumped every year for us all to remember what happened on that day and to remember the victims of that tragedy.
I remember that day like it was yesterday and so unreal to read all the post as it was happening again. I couldn't even get to cnn I came here to get updates as to what was happening.
At september 11th 2001 I was working at a call center 200 meters from the NATO headquarters in Brussels. Everyone was scared as shit and we were not alloud to leave. They actually said that who left would be fired. Sept 12 I was unemployed.
Very sad day. I watched the special that was on last night about the firefighters and the part that really sticks in my mind is the jumpers and what one firefighter said. I can't imagine how bad the situation must have been up there for jumping to be the better option.
Great bump. Its important to remember that day. The guttless actions of terrorists, the heroics of Americans, and the deaths of innocents.
If you're too immature to appreciate this bump, just go back to surfing for porn.
I have noticed that a lot of people that complain are in other threads saying they were in high school at the time. Perhaps that is the way my grandparent's generation feel when people talk lightly of the second world war.

perhaps if they had to finish highschool without a mother or a father because their parents worked in the world trade center they'd feel diferently.
I'm not a dinosaur, I'm a crocodile. I've seen dinosaurs come and go and I'm left unimpressed.
