I read his book "Where the right went wrong"

I was with him up until he started talking about how the Dredd Scott case was a bad decision by the Supreme Court.

He's really out there now in his old age.

Hmmmm.....he does have an interesting point.
With the exceptions of Britain and France all of the countries that were liberated during the war fell under the Iron Curtain shortly afterwards.

So we would have had a cold war with Germany instead of Russia.

Looking at it strictly from the point of view of how many lives were lost and how much money it cost us (as opposed to looking at it in terms of right and wrong) it's possible we would have come out ahead by not getting involved.

Hitler was about to get nuclear weapons, I don't think he would have hesitated to use them on anyone including the US. So, of course it was not only worth it for the US to get involved, but it was also vital !!

Hitler would have had the bomb much earlier then anyone else. But, the scientists developing the technology in Germany were Jewish, and so Hitler rejected it as 'Jewish' science... These scientists later defected to the US.

Of course these Buchanan comments come on the heels of Bush?s European trip where he criticized FDR openly and said America didn?t do enough during World War II. Can you imagine the hell that would have broke loose if some Democratic President had gone overseas and said America hadn?t done enough during WW II and then criticized some former Republican president. Right wing radio & Fox news would be screaming for weeks about how such a President dishonored the sacrifice of WW II vets and how it was traitorous of the President to criticize America on foreign soil. Of course since it is Bush he gets a free pass.
