It's all good theory, but the trouble is that life has a habit of jumping up and biting you in the ass.
My mother kept very fit, she was a ballet dancer when she was younger and still actively taught dance. Then she was diagnosed with cancer of the liver and died a few months later when only 56 years old. I rarely so much as caught a cold although I drank and smoke too much. But at 45 a genetic problem, rather than my bad habits, turned my life upside down.
Of course it has to make sense to take care of your health. But sadly, doing that is no guarantee you will stay healthy.
