People are a result of their environment and culture/subculture. Even within any 'race' there's a whole range of 'cultures.' Unfortunately, media portrayals of black culture tends to only focus on hip hop and its 'subculture.' Reading Sowell, Williams, McWhorter, one realizes that there's many other other cultures within the African-American community than the one portrayed in mass media/mass market outlets.

Overall I have a real problem with today's media. That is where the blame needs to be directed. Not just about this topic but about everything they do. I'm a firm believer that TV rots the brain and is for the masses of sheep who need to be told how to dress, live and eat. It's non-stop attack of products that eats people alive.
