I can't speak for the other guys but really my way is to target keywords that no one is fighting over. I've got the number one spot in Google for two phrases and really wasn't even trying that hard. The keywords are in the domain and my other sites link to them using the keyword. Thats all it took. And its been paying off nicely.

Well, incoming links is a must. That's pretty obvious. I mean, are there any other methods that are not so obvious?

Top notch stuff! This is the kind of thing I was looking for.

As far as buying a book goes, I really don't see how it can be better to buy some generic SEO tutorial than to have people who are specialized in the adult porn business tell you what works and what doesn't.

Cyndalie's response is the kind of stuff I was looking for. If anyone wants to add, it would be greatly appreciated.
